Whanganui Rugby Football Union (WRFU) is the governing body for rugby union in the Whanganui region. The Whanganui Rugby Football Union was formed in 1888.
The Whanganui Rugby Football Union (WRFU) is the governing body for rugby union in the Wanganui region of New Zealand. The Whanganui team play from Cooks Gardens, Whanganui, and have enjoyed much success on the playing field throughout their history. Since the introduction of the National Provincial Championship in 1976, the Whanganui team have gone on to win five provincial championships and have been finalists in each of the last four years in succession.

Winning at Eden Park 🤩
The Manawatu Cyclones defeated Auckland to claim the JJ Stewart Trophy, named in honour of John Joseph 'JJ' Stewart, a notable New Zealand Rugby Union coach, administrator, secondary school teacher and strong supporter of women's rugby in New Zealand. Stewart served as All Blacks coach from 1973 to 1976 and contributed as a provincial coach in Taranaki and Wanganui, a selector and a member of the Rugby Football Union council.
