About to float away in Iceland's Blue Lagoon

First day in Iceland. First aurora!

Machu Pichu is magical. Honestly not our favorite or most memorable part of Peru (very touristy!) but so impressive and full of interesting history. It was really special being there at sunrise close to the equinox, where the sun rises through a nook at the peak of a mountain. The Incans would use that and sunrise over another mountain top to decide when to plant and when to harvest. It was like a spiritual crown jewel of the Incan empire, with about six major ceremony sites, yet sadly was only occupied for less than 100 years before they abandoned it to fight the Spanish occupation. One reason why it's so famous is because the Spanish never found it, being deep in the jungle on a mountain peak. Their stone work was so impressive.. using meteorite chisels to cut through granite... everything so precise and intelligently designed it has withstood earthquakes that toppled Spanish architecture.
One more very interesting thing was the only person found buried alone there was a woman, buried with her dog. they think she was maybe the spiritual or political leader of Machu Picchu when the emperor was traveling (which took years because the empire spanned six modern day countries.)

The Maras Salt mines have been community owned and individually operated for over 2,000 years... Uninterrupted since pre-Incan times. Each plot is managed by one family.

The Moray terraces were an agricultural research test site where the inches brought soil and seeds from all over the Incan empire to test different crops under different microclimates.

The kombucha and a superb falafel was a nice bonus.

The food in Peru was outrageously good. We kept going back to this place called Intimo. The sauces were so delicious that we asked for a cooking class from the chef only on how to make sauces, which was really interesting. The chef Mike, like so many people in Peru, had a deep kindness, centeredness, and gratitude that was so special. What was most surprising to me was that he put bread in one sauce and saltine crackers in another to as a thickener and also for taste. The other key was lots of fresh herbs and vegetables. We're excited to try to recreate them and to go back one day!

Even though it's been a couple months since I got back from Peru, I want to share some of my favorite memories with you all ✨

One big highlight was a painting workshop with an incredible visionary artist, . We spent 3 days learning and playing with his magical methods of showing energy and the spirit in nature and how it's all interconnected.

I haven't really painted much since middle school so it was really fun to pick up the paintbrush again. I've always admired visionary art and it so cool to see how he approaches it.

I was really proud of Michelle as this was her first painting with acrylic ever as you can see it was really beautiful.

The last piece is one from our teacher which we bought a print of along with two others cuz he was so amazing. Definitely check out his work at his profile above.

Hiked to a waterfall and reading in hammock next honeysuckle.. watching humming birds and the sun set on the Andes... this is my happy place.

This little hotel outside of Pisac is like a mini retreat center and a little slice of paradise. Meditating with the bird songs and no street noise... so healing.

I used to do at least one meditation retreat each year and haven't for five years now... this is close but also making me miss that deep silence. I think it's past time.

A picture perfect first day in Piscac, Peru.

I never really wanted to go on a cruise before, but the San Juan Social Club brought 250 entrepreneurs together last year and it was a great way to meet people from the island. We did it again this year with 450 entrepreneurs. I especially liked hanging with Chin and a group of people who volunteer around puerto rico. Great times. I like the balance of work and play. We're going again next year :)
