Help our dog shelter

-> https://proyectoperucentre.org/donate-dogshelter/

Maite and our volunteers work hard everyday to support over 90 dogs. While they do their best, resources are limited, especially when it comes to medical care and the upkeep of enclosures as most of their money goes directly to food and clean water.

To support our four-legged friends we are happy to announce that you can now donate directly via our new donation page. We are trying to reach 3 goals this year:

1. Medical refrigerator
2. New enclosure doors
3. New food and water bowls

Or area of greatest need

We hope we can achieve this with your help and support on-site and from afar. Please share the link below with people you think are willing to help. 100% of what we receive from your donation will go to Maite and her dogs.

Are you interested in helping our horses here in Peru? 🐴✨️

Our horse ranch project is situated in the beautiful Sacred Valley, only 50min from Cusco. The family run business is well know for their animal welfare and authentic cultural experiences. Animal welfare is not always seen as a priority in countries such as Peru, making your help and love for horses even more impactful.. Some of the horses that call this ranch their home were rescued from unethical farms and ranches in the area. Cappuccina for example was just recently moved to the ranch and was able gave birth to a beautiful foal thanks to the care and help of local staff and volunteers.

Your tasks:
-> Feeding the animals
-> Cleaning the stable
-> Assisting with exercising the horses
-> Prepare saddles, reins, ropes
-> Give tours with the horses (depending on experience)

Let us know if your interested in helping our beautiful horses🐎

Today we spent the day seeing what some of our wildlife volunteers have been up to.

Behind every rescued animal here is a volunteer who shows up long before the tourists do. We spent the day with our team at the sanctuary they call home base, feeding rescued alpacas, cleaning enclosures, and learning the stories of the Andean bear, macaws, and puma who found refuge here after trafficking and captivity. This isn’t a petting zoo. It’s rehabilitation, and our volunteers are part of it every single day.

Come do more than pass through Cusco. Live here as part of a community, work that means something, and leave with more than photos.

Recap of yesterday’s Inti Raymi☀️🏔️

500 years of tradition. One ancient fortress. Thousands gathered to watch the Sun God called back to the Andes.🦙

This was Inti Raymi in Cusco, and our volunteers had a front-row seat to the biggest event of the year.

Some experiences you can’t book on a tour. You have to live here for them.

Every one of these dogs was pulled off the street. There are 120 more behind them.

This shelter in Cusco is run by a Peruvian lady. No funding, no staff, just years of rescuing abused and injured dogs nobody else would, and somehow feeding and caring for all 125 of them every single day.

We spent the weekend there. Some of these dogs still flinch when a hand comes near. Others climb into your arms like they’ve been waiting their whole life for someone to show up.

And the shelter doesn’t just rescue. They run sterilization and education campaigns across the community, so fewer dogs end up behind a fence in the first place.

That’s the part that sticks with us and what we believe in. They’re not just saving dogs, they’re trying to fix why the dogs end up there at all.

They can’t do it alone.👇

This is one of our volunteer programs. Spend a week here and you’ll feed, clean, train, and just be with these dogs while they wait for a home. No experience needed, just old clothes and patience.
