To continuously strengthen its disaster preparedness capabilities, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Provincial Science and Technology Office-Rizal took part in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) earlier today, June 18, 2026, across two separate locations: Antipolo City and the Municipality of Pililla.

At the Pililla Municipal Hall, the drill commenced at 9:01 AM when the alarm sounded, coinciding with the third day of the ongoing Innovation, Science, and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology-Based Development (iSTART) training workshop. Participants situated at the 3rd-floor session hall immediately executed the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol. Following the initial shake simulation, the team proceeded with an orderly evacuation to the designated open field, clocking a total evacuation time of 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

LGU Pililla demonstrated an organized post-evacuation protocol, deploying assigned marshals at designated posts to conduct a systematic headcount of all staff and visitors. The safety exercise concluded with a comprehensive debriefing conducted by Engr. Eligio Villareal, Head of the General Services Office (GSO).

A total of twelve (12) personnel actively participated in the exercise. Three (3) staff members conducted the drill at the PSTO Rizal Building inside the URS-Antipolo Campus. Meanwhile, nine (9) DOST personnel (3) from the Regional Office and (6) from PSTO Rizal) joined the drill at the Pililla Municipal Hall site.

By sustaining these regular, multi-location simulations, DOST-Rizal ensures that its workforce remains vigilant and ready to respond effectively, whether at the home office or deployed in the field. This activity underscores the office's persistent commitment to embedding a culture of safety and preparedness within the community.
