The Municipality of Botolan headed by Hon. Mayor Jun Omar C. Ebdane together with Provincial Governor of Zambales, Hon. Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., and Hon. Mayor Arvin Antipolo of San Antonio, Zambales, attended the 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗣 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 yesterday, June 22, 2026, at the DOST-PNRI Auditorium, Commonwealth Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
Also in attendance were the Municipal Heads of Botolan who are participating in the project including Ms. Annadine Manzinares (MENRO), Ms. Melanie D. Baysa (MPDC), and Municipal Engineer Virgilio D. Dizon.
The DOST-PNRI presented the project’s key findings and hoping that the stakeholders will engage in the development of policy recommendations and strategic roadmap for sustainable research and development of geological hydrogen in the country.
As part of the presentation, DOST-PNRI awarded the Municipality of Botolan a Plaque of Appreciation for its invaluable support and commitment to the 𝘏𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘌𝘌𝘗: 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬-𝘋𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵.
Led by Dr. Karmina A. Aquino (SC, ETHZ), together with OIC-PNRI Dr. Vallerie Ann I. Samson, DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Ms. Candy Mariel M. Juego (PTS I), and staff highlighting the importance of advancing geologic hydrogen research to address the current global climate crisis. Through the Art Apprenticeship Program at the Balin Pamana Botolan Heritage Center, we remain committed to empowering students by equipping them with new knowledge, practical skills, and valuable experiences that will serve them beyond the classroom.

Throughout their 108-hour apprenticeship, the students actively participated in various heritage, cultural, educational, and community-based activities designed to develop their talents, strengthen their confidence, and showcase their creative potential. More importantly, they gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of Botolan's rich history, culture, traditions, and the importance of preserving our local heritage.

We take pride in ensuring that every moment spent with us is worthwhile—one that inspires future educators, artists, and cultural advocates to carry forward the stories and identity of our community.

Congratulations once again to our Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) students of the Polytechnic College of Botolan! May this milestone be the beginning of an even greater journey in promoting arts, culture, and heritage.

Matagumpay na naisagawa ngayong ika-17 ng Hunyo, 2026 ang 2nd Quarter Joint Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) at Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) Meeting, na pinangunahan ng ating Kgg. Mayor Jun Omar Ebdane, kasama ang mga Department Heads.

Dumalo rin ang Botolan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), CGSS Botolan, Infantry Battalion, Punong Barangays at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno na kabilang sa pagpupulong na ito. Layunin nito na mas pag-igtingin pa ang seguridad at kapakanan ng bawat residente ng Botolan.

Ibinahagi sa pagpupulong na ito ang mga hakbang na isasagawa upang mas mapanatili ang kaayusan at kaligtasan sa Bayan ng Botolan, kabilang na ang aktibong kampanya kontra droga.

OT CAPTURED | 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝘁. 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗼 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝟯𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆

ZAMBALES — Filipino and international scientists returned to Mt. Pinatubo on June 12, 2026, ahead of the 35th anniversary of its historic 1991 eruption, which remains one of the most powerful volcanic events of the 20th century.

The visit capped an international conference that brought together scientists who played key roles in monitoring, studying, and forecasting the 1991 eruptions of Mt. Pinatubo. Their work, in coordination with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology under the Department of Science and Technology, helped guide critical decisions during one of the country’s most significant disaster events.

Among those who joined the trek were Dr. Heather Wright, director of the VDAP Cascades Volcano Observatory, and Dr. Beth Bartell of the Cascades Volcano Observatory, both from the United States Geological Survey. Retired USGS geologists Dr. Andy Lockhart and Dr. Christopher “Chris” Newhall also took part in the visit.

The group also included Dr. Marta Calvache, vice president of the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior; Dr. Arturo Daag, associate scientist of DOST; Dr. Raymond Maximo and Timothy John Daita, science research specialists of DOST-PHIVOLCS; and Rey Lumbang, resident volcanologist of the Pinatubo Volcano Observatory.

Mt. Pinatubo’s 1991 eruption forced massive evacuations, reshaped communities across Central Luzon, and left lasting impacts on Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, and nearby areas. The event also became a major reference point in global volcanology because of the successful monitoring and early warnings that helped save many lives.

The scientists’ return to the volcano served as both a technical and historical moment, reconnecting experts with a site that changed the way volcanic hazards, forecasting, and disaster preparedness are understood in the Philippines and abroad.

For communities around Mt. Pinatubo, the anniversary is a reminder of the importance of science-based monitoring, public preparedness, and cooperation between local authorities, national agencies, and international experts.

The visit also honored the continuing work of PHIVOLCS and partner institutions in watching over active volcanoes and helping communities prepare for natural hazards.

#𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐤𝐚𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐧: On 15 June 1991, one of the largest eruptions of the 20th century happened in Volcano. This eruption produced an eruption column that resulted to heavy ashfall, pyroclastic density current (pyroclastic flows), and lahars. These volcanic hazards affected more than 200,000 families and the indigenous Aeta people.
