Lamentations 3 begins with some of the darkest words in the book. The writer feels crushed, forgotten, and surrounded by suffering. But then something changes: he remembers God's mercy. The circumstances haven't suddenly changed. His perspective has. He remembers that God's compassion is still present.

Lamentations 2 continues describing Jerusalem's devastation. But instead of telling people to hide their emotions, it tells them to pour out their hearts before God. God isn't threatened by our tears, anger, confusion, or grief. We can bring the real version of ourselves to Him.

Take 10 quiet minutes tonight. Write down everything you're carrying emotionally without editing yourself. Then pray over what you've written and read Lamentations 2, allowing yourself to be honest with God.

Our FaithWorks series continues to challenge our daily walk as we dive deeper into "Taming the Tongue." Pastor Eyriche beautifully reminds us that true wisdom isn't just about what we know, but how we apply it in humility and grace. Because the words we speak are a direct reflection of what is stored in our hearts, we must ask ourselves: Are we allowing our speech to cause trouble, or are we choosing to be peacemakers?

Let us discover how to ask God for the heavenly wisdom needed to ensure our words are a true channel of blessing.

Jerusalem has been destroyed. 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧. It describes loneliness, grief, loss, shame, and the devastating consequences of sin. This is important because the Bible doesn't pretend that life is always beautiful. Sometimes faith means bringing your deepest grief honestly before God.

Think of someone who is grieving or carrying a pain other people may not see. Pray for them today and, if appropriate, simply tell them, “𝑰'𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆.”

𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬... Jeremiah ends with the fall of Jerusalem, the destruction of the temple, exile, and loss. It could have ended entirely in darkness. But the final scene shows Jehoiachin being released from prison and treated with kindness.

Think of a situation in your life that feels like the story is already over. Write it down and pray, “𝑮𝒐𝒅, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓.”

𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞. Jeremiah 51 turns toward Babylon, the empire that God had used to judge Judah. But Babylon itself will eventually fall. In contrast, he points to the God who created the entire world. Human power can look enormous from our perspective. But Jeremiah reminds us that the Creator is greater than anything creation can build.

Step away from social media and the noise of the world for a few minutes today. Look outside, write down three things you're thankful God created, and pray over them.

𝐍𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝. Jeremiah 50 turns toward Babylon, the empire that God had used to judge Judah. But Babylon itself will eventually fall. The chapter also points toward God's people returning and seeking Him again. Even after years of wandering, there is still a picture of people coming back home to God.
