From being wheelchair-bound to finding my way back into my passion, my RA journey taught me this: like a skyscraper, even after i fall, i am still being rebuilt. Pain slowed me down, but it never ended me. It shaped the strength i’m rising with today.

PAIN INTO PURPOSE | May 27, 2022 will always hold a quiet but powerful meaning in my life. It was the day i was invited to be one of the panelists at a conference, sharing my healing journey with my autoimmune condition. I said yes not because i felt fully healed but because i believed that maybe my story - still in progress, still fragile in places - could help someone else feel less alone in theirs.

At that time, i didn’t realize how deeply that “yes” was connected to something much bigger than the moment itself.

Looking back now, i see that it was also one of the early seeds of Hiraya.

Before Hiraya had a name, structure, or vision on paper, it already existed in that intention, to turn personal pain into shared hope and private healing into something that could reach others. Speaking that day wasn’t just about my journey; it was the beginning of realizing that my story could be part of something greater, something that could serve, uplift and connect people in their most vulnerable seasons.

Hiraya, meaning hope, was born from moments like that. From choosing to speak when it was easier to stay silent. From believing that even in brokenness, there is still something we can offer others: understanding, compassion and light.

Now, years later, i look at where i am and i am filled with gratitude. I am still standing. Still healing. Still building. And still carrying that same heart that said “yes” back then, now expanded into a mission that reaches beyond me.

Hiraya is not just an organization i started. It is the continuation of that moment. It is the living expression of the belief that no journey is wasted when it is offered in service of others.

And i remain in awe that what began as my own healing has grown into a shared space of hope for many. 🤍
