Coffee grows in some of the most beautiful places in the Philippines, including Mt Banahaw - one of 24 active volcanoes on the Philippine archipelago. Planting the trees for this project has taken us across the country, and it’s been an incredible journey! We’d been visiting Mt Banahaw to learn about coffee farming in Luzon, and this coffee cooperative is one of a few around the base of the volcano. On this trip, we finally got to plant the trees sponsored by our partners.

London has one of the most exciting specialty coffee cultures in the world. It’s home to one of the world’s leading coffee research centres, renowned cafes and roasters, and multitudes of super coffee geeks. 

We’ve been collecting green coffee samples from farms on our travels around the Philippines, and in collaboration with some of our favourite roasters, we brought a few of our favourite coffees for Londoners to try.

This was a special privilege for us to collaborate with all the brands and friends we worked with, to meet so many coffee professionals, and most of all, to give context to the coffees we showcased. We always share online that Philippine coffee is special, but to taste is to truly believe.

It might be a while, but we’re already thinking of round 2 in the UK. If you’re a coffee brand in the UK, or even an enthusiast with plans to serve PH coffee one day, send us a DM!

Often when we hold these events, there’s a good number of attendees who’ve never tasted a Philippine coffee before. It’s a huge privilege for us to get to introduce our origin, and through such special coffees at that. 

Some standout coffees on this table included a fruity robusta from Byron Daplayan available through Café Amìan . I love this particular robusta because people never believe it when we reveal what it is! Curve’s own sweet coffee from Lake Napalit was also a standout. The florality had our guests thinking it was a gesha! And ofcourse, The Fat Seed’s Sagada peaberry was absolutely incredible

A huge thank you to our roaster friends back home Curve Coffee Collaborators , The Fat Seed , The Cooking Dad Coffee Roastery and Cafe , a.m. coffee & roastery and Café Amìan for helping us to prepare these coffees for this tour. And another huge thank you to SONTAG for opening their space for us to do this in London!
