In observance of Osmeña Day, the USJ-R Alumni Office will be closed today, September 9, 2026. Regular office operations will resume on the next business day.

In commemoration of the late President Sergio Osmeña Sr., September 9 is declared a special non-working public holiday in Cebu City and the Province of Cebu pursuant to Republic Act No. 6953.

| Please be informed of the following arrangements:

• Basic Education classes will continue to be conducted online throughout the duration of the Bar Examinations.
• Face-to-face classes for Tertiary Level and onsite work will continue on September 8, 2026.

As a precautionary measure, everyone is strongly encouraged to wear a facemask to help protect their health and contribute to the safety and well-being of the entire USJ-R community.

USJ-R AAI Newly Elected Board Holds Strategic Planning

The newly elected USJ-R Alumni Association, Inc. (AAI) Board of Trustees conducted its Strategic Planning on August 30–31 at Tagboanan Beach Resort, Borbon, Cebu.

The session opened with a message from newly elected President Atty. Tomas A. Riveral, CPA, REB, who set the direction of the planning by citing Henry Ford’s words, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

He remarked that the Association should create an impact in the areas where it should be a part of, particularly in the University, among the students and alumni, as well as in the community and environment.

The planning proper was facilitated by Immediate Past President Atty. Jonathan P. Capanas, CPA, who showcased where the Association is today and guided the new officers toward where the Association is headed.

Dr. Antonio T. Esmero, the newly elected Executive Vice-President, officially closed the Strategic Planning session, emphasizing the importance of putting the plans and strategies discussed into action and working together to achieve the Association’s goals.
