HANDOG NG PANGULO: SERBISYONG SAPAT PARA SA LAHAT

Strengthening our commitment to bringing essential health and nutrition services closer to the community, the Department of Health, Municipal Health Office of Daet, and Rural Health Units 1, 2, and 3, together with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Education, Philippine Statistics Authority, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, joined forces for a school-based activity held today, September 14, 2026, at Daet Integrated School.

The activity brought together learners, teachers, parents, and community members, providing them with access to various medical, health, nutrition, and social services. Dr. Lurene T. Tejada, Municipal Health Officer, led the provision of health services, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration in bringing accessible and responsive public services closer to the community.

Specialized nutrition services were also provided, led by Ms. Anita P. Auro, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, together with Ms. Glenda C. Artiaga and Mr. Glenn Paolo B. Morales, RND, Nutritionist-Dietitian from the Department of Health.

Nutrition assessment and counseling were provided to individuals across all age groups, alongside nutrition education and the distribution of information materials, including Pinggang Pinoy, 10 Kumainments, breastfeeding information materials, and Nutrition for Persons with Disabilities materials. Iron Folic Acid supplements were also provided to Women of Reproductive Age as part of efforts to promote proper nutrition and support maternal and reproductive health.

This collaborative initiative reflects a whole-of-government approach to advancing health and nutrition, bringing essential services directly to schools and communities and ensuring that they are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the people.

ORIENTATION ON OMRON BODY COMPOSITION & OBESITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

In Celebration of the 126th Civil Service Month and Obesity Prevention Awareness Week

“Pag-aalaga sa Kalusugan ng mga Kawani — Caring for the Health of Our Public Servants”

Conducted by the Municipal Nutrition Action Office led by MNAO Anita P. Auro, and headed by Municipal Health Officer Dra. Lurene T. Tejada, the Municipal Health Office of Daet organized this comprehensive orientation on the proper utilization of the Omron Body Composition Monitor and updates on Obesity Management aimed at strengthening health services across the Three (3) Rural Health Units of the Municipality of Daet.

This activity gathered health personnel from all three RHUs to enhance their knowledge and skills in accurately assessing body composition and effectively managing obesity key factors in promoting holistic health and wellness among our healthcare workers and the communities we serve.

Serving as Resource Speaker was Sir Glenn Paolo B. Morales, RND, who shared his expertise and practical insights to equip our healthcare team with evidence-based approaches in nutrition assessment and obesity prevention and control.

As the country observes National Breastfeeding Month this August, the latest national nutrition data tell a story of both progress and remaining challenges. More Filipino infants are being exclusively breastfed, and more young children are continuing to receive breast milk into their second year of life. However, for many newborns, breastfeeding still does not begin within the critical first hour after birth.

This progress was reflected in the 2025 Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipino Children and Other Population Groups, or the 2025 Updating Survey, by the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI). The survey found that 54.8 percent (%) of infants aged 0 to 5.9 months were exclusively breastfed, an increase from 50.4% in the 2023 National Nutrition Survey (NNS).

💉 Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity + Vitamin A Supplementation

The Municipal Health Office of Daet, under the leadership of Municipal Health Officer Dr. Lurene T. Tejada, has begun the implementation of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) and Vitamin A Supplementation across the municipality’s 25 barangays.

This important health and nutrition initiative is being carried out in close coordination with the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, together with our dedicated public health nurses, rural health midwives, Barangay Health Workers, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars who are bringing these essential services closer to our communities.

💉 Measles-Rubella Vaccination
Providing eligible children with additional protection against measles and rubella and helping prevent outbreaks and complications.

💊 Vitamin A Supplementation
🔸 100,000 IU for children 6–11 months old
🔸 200,000 IU for children 12–59 months old

Vitamin A is essential in strengthening children’s immunity, protecting their vision, and supporting their healthy growth and development.

In addition, as part of the celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the Municipal Health Office is likewise distributing IEC materials on breastfeeding to help provide accurate and relevant information on the importance of breastfeeding.

This year’s celebration carries the theme:

“Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

The activity will continue across the different barangays of Daet as our teams work together to reach more children to ensure that essential health and nutrition services and information are accessible to every community.
