On this day, we celebrate one of the most unique and charming species in the animal kingdom, the red panda (๐ผ๐๐ก๐ช๐ง๐ช๐จ ๐๐ช๐ก๐๐๐ฃ๐จ)! ๐ฟ Known for their rusty-red fur, bushy tails, and solitary nature, these tree-dwelling mammals inhabit the high-altitude forests of the Eastern Himalayas. ๐๐พ
Red pandas serve as crucial indicators of ecological health in their mountain habitats, where their diet consists almost entirely of bamboo. ๐ However, habitat loss, fragmentation from human expansion, and deforestation severely threaten their populations, leaving fewer than 10,000 remaining in the wild. Protecting their temperate forest homes helps preserve entire mountain ecosystems and the biodiversity within them. By staying informed and spreading awareness, we can help safeguard these endangered creatures for years to come. ๐ฅ๐

During the Association of Senior High Clubs and Organizations (ASHCO) coordination and alignment meeting, the ASHCO chairperson spotted a ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ค ๐ข๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ง๐๐๐ช๐จ, commonly known as the spotted house geckoโa lizard native to Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. It was running across the slippery tiles of the AV Hall. Seeing this small creature during our meeting served as a gentle reminder that biodiversity thrives alongside us in our daily campus activities.
This sighting highlights the importance of coexisting peacefully with local fauna. Despite their small size, ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ค๐จ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฏ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ by naturally preying on insects like mosquitoes and flies. This event aimed to encourage sustainable living and actionable waste reduction in celebration of ๐๐๐ซ๐จ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐๐ค and ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐ค. ๐
๐๐ฌ. ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฒ ๐๐๐จ๐ ๐จ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ซ shared valuable insights on zero-waste living and conscious consumption, emphasizing the vital role individual choices play in lessening our reliance on landfills. ๐ฟ
As the day concluded, may we be reminded that sustainable living starts with small, daily choices. Being mindful of our waste and re-evaluating our lifestyle keeps us passionately standing for our advocacy. It is important to make intentional decisions because our communities suffer when landfills overflow and waste pollutes our ecosystems. ๐๐ฑ

Yesterday, September 17, we took on the transplant seedling activity as part of our Green Habit Challenge! We transplanted the seedlings we found around the campus into the DIY pots made from recycled plastic bottles that everyone brought. Transferring them carefully into their new homes was such a fun experience for all of us. Seeing everyone participate made the activity so worth it. It really proved how simple it is to reuse everyday materials for something meaningful that brings more green to our surroundings. ๐ฟ

โWhile roaming around the campus, Augustus (one of our grade 12 STEM students) saw a ๐ฟ๐ง๐๐๐ค ๐จ๐ฅ., commonly known as the ๐ณ๐น๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ณ๐น๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ด๐ผ๐ป. It was resting on the trunk of a tree, blending naturally with its surroundings. Seeing this unique wildlife species on our campus reminded us that nature can be found even in places where we least expect it.
โ
โThis encounter also showed us the importance of protecting the natural environment and the wildlife that lives within it. By keeping our campus clean, respecting animals, and preserving their natural habitat, we can help create a safe environment where different species can continue to thrive.

๐ฑ๐งนNATIONAL CLEANUP MONTHโป๏ธ๐งน
National Cleanup Month is observed every September in the Philippines to promote proper waste management, environmental care, and community cleanups. This was established through Proclamation No. 244 in 1993, and reminds us that keeping our environment clean is a shared responsibility. It encourages everyone to take action by properly disposing of waste, reducing garbage, recycling, and composting. ๐โป๏ธ
A clean environment is a shared responsibility. By joining cleanup activities and encouraging others to participate, we strengthen community cooperation and bayanihan while helping protect nature and create a healthier place for everyone. Let us start with ourselves and inspire others to care for our surroundings. ๐ ๐
โOne small deed, a cleaner world we need.โ๐โจ
