SOCIAL MEDIA JUSTICE
Social media has become a powerful tool for exposing wrongdoing, demanding accountability, and giving ordinary people a voice. But there is a danger when public opinion begins to substitute for due process.
A viral post is not a judgment. A comment section is not a courtroom. Public outrage, however widespread, is not proof beyond reasonable doubt.
At the same time, freedom of expression is not an absolute license to destroy another person’s reputation. Not every statement posted or commented online is protected speech. Under our laws, defamatory statements may give rise to liability, including cyber libel, when the elements of the offense are present. The Constitution protects expression, but that protection exists within the limits prescribed by law.
Justice therefore requires more than a viral accusation. It requires evidence, an opportunity to be heard, and an impartial determination based on law. Social media may expose an issue or bring a grievance to public attention, but it should not become a substitute for the courts.
We must be careful not to confuse visibility with truth, accusation with proof, and outrage with justice.
The law must remain the final measure—not the number of shares, reactions, or comments.

The 2026 Bar Examinations have finally come to an end.
Congratulations to all the brave Barristers who showed up, endured the pressure, and finished strong. You have done your part. For now, let go of the “what ifs” and the “what could have been.” There is nothing more to prove.
As you await the results, take this moment to pause, breathe, and be grateful. Thank those who journeyed with you—the ones who prayed for you, believed in you, supported you, and stood by you through the long nights and difficult days.
Whatever the results may be, never forget how far you have come.
For now, rest. Be grateful. And trust that what is meant for you will find its way to you.😉

Proud to be part of the IBP National Synchronized Jail Decongestion Activity, conducted nationwide to promote access to justice, uphold the rights of persons deprived of liberty, and help address the continuing problem of jail congestion.
As part of the IBP Aklan Chapter, we participated in the jail decongestion activities at the BJMP and Aklan Rehabilitation Center, providing legal assistance and reviewing cases to help identify those who may be entitled to appropriate legal remedies.
This initiative reminds us that the practice of law is not confined within the four walls of a courtroom. It is also about reaching those who have limited access to legal assistance and ensuring that justice remains accessible to all.
Grateful for the opportunity to serve, listen, and contribute to this nationwide effort.

Education has never been the sole responsibility of teachers. It is a shared obligation among families, communities, schools, policymakers, and the government itself. When the system fails, accountability must likewise be shared.
If we truly believe that there is a crisis in values formation, then we should examine the policies we have implemented, the support we have failed to provide, and the institutions we have allowed to deteriorate.
Blaming teachers may be convenient, but it does nothing to address the root of the problem. It only further demoralizes a profession that has already endured decades of neglect.
