World Cleanup Day is a global effort that brings people together to keep our planet clean and safe. It shows how important it is to manage waste the way cut down on pollution save natural resources and form good habits for a healthier Earth.

On December 8, 2023, the United Nations General Assembly, in its seventy-eighth session, unanimously adopted resolution 78/122, “World Cleanup Day”, proclaiming 20 September as World Cleanup Day, to be observed annually. The resolution invites Member States, United Nations agencies, international and regional organizations, civil society, the private sector and academia to mark the day through clean-ups and awareness-raising activities.

World Cleanup Day builds on years of grassroots initiatives that have mobilized millions, reminding us of the shared responsibility to protect our planet.

This day teaches us that protecting the environment isn't just something governments or big companies should do. It’s something everyone can. Should do. Small everyday actions—, like throwing trash in the place avoiding single-use plastics, recycling properly and making sure parks and streets stay tidy—can really make a difference.

Let’s take what we know and turn it into action. Let’s inspire others to care about the world around them. When we all work together we can build neighborhoods and help create a future that lasts. 🌱🌎
