Sunday, August 16, 2026 — On the occasion of the birthday of 𝙎𝙩. 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝘽𝙤𝙨𝙘𝙤, our beloved Founder, the Salesian Cooperators from the two islands of Cebu and Negros came together for a meaningful and joyful celebration through a ꜱɪᴍᴜʟᴛᴀɴᴇᴏᴜꜱ ᴛʀᴇᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴛɪɴɢ (ᴄᴀᴄᴀᴏ) ᴀɴᴅ ᴍᴀɴɢʀᴏᴠᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴛɪɴɢ ᴀᴄᴛɪᴠɪᴛʏ.

As early as 5:00 AM, we gathered to welcome the first light of the day, beginning this special celebration with grateful hearts and a shared commitment to care for Mother Earth, our Common Home. With hands ready to serve and hearts united in faith, we planted cacao seedlings and mangroves as a concrete expression of our faith in action and our responsibility to protect and restore creation.

This activity was not only a gift to the environment but also our gift to Don Bosco—a joyful way of honoring his legacy of love, service, and dedication to the young and to the community.

After the planting activity, we enjoyed swimming, fellowship, and bonding, creating beautiful moments of joy, friendship, and gratitude. The simple moments of laughter and togetherness reminded us that the Salesian spirit is lived not only through service but also through joy, friendship, and community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the Salesian Cooperators who worked behind the scenes and contributed to the success of these activities. Every effort, big or small, helped make this celebration meaningful. We are especially grateful to all those who generously brought food to share with everyone. Your generosity transformed our fellowship into a true celebration of fraternity and communion. 🍲💚

Indeed, it was a beautiful, joyful, and meaningful celebration of Don Bosco’s birthday—coming together as one Salesian family, caring for creation, strengthening our bonds, sharing what we have, and continuing his mission with generous hearts.

On August 16, 2026, Salesian Cooperators from Cebu and Negros gathered at dawn to celebrate Don Bosco's birthday not with words, but with their hands in the earth. Planting cacao seedlings and mangroves became a concrete act of faith and responsibility toward creation. What began as a gift to Don Bosco became a gift to Mother Earth, a living reminder that the Salesian spirit is expressed not only through service, but through joy, friendship, and community.

What is "MOM" all about?

“MOM” (Melodies of Margaret) is a One – Act light musical that tells the life story of the First Salesian Cooperator, Margaret Occhiena Bosco based on the accounts of her son, John Bosco who was then destined to be Saint John Bosco.

This musical is staged to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Association of Salesian Cooperators. The play is produced by Don Bosco Technical College - Cebu in cooperation with the Association of Salesian Cooperators.

The Script and Songs were written by the SMM (Salesian Music Ministry) Creative Team headed by its Resident Music Director and Arranger, Mr. NJ Banares. Other collaborators include Jiggy Despi Ramirez (a Faculty at DBTC), Fr. Randy Figuracion, SDB (SMM Director and DBTC Rector), and the legendary songwriter of many Salesian Hits, Michael B. Lapid.

The musical will also feature arrangements by top Cebuano Musical Arrangers like Charles Las Pinas, Elvis Somosot, and the Multi Awarded Neil Salarda.

The play will be directed by Maryrose Villacastin - Maghuyop.
