On September 27, 2026, the Bureau of Fire Protection Region 7, under the leadership of 𝐅𝐂𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐎𝐋𝐅𝐎 𝐏 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐀, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, and the Bohol Provincial Fire Office, headed by 𝐅𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐀𝐔𝐋 𝐆. 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐈Ñ𝐎, 𝐉𝐃, 𝐃𝐏𝐀, personnel of Loon Fire Station, under the supervision of 𝐒𝐅𝐎𝟑 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐑. 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐫., 𝐂𝐄, 𝐌𝐏𝐀, joined the commemoration of the 84th Anniversary of the Battle of Moalong, one of the most significant guerrilla victories in Bohol during World War II.

On September 27, 1942, guerrillas led by Capt. Francisco Salazar ambushed two truckloads of Japanese soldiers at Moalong Bridge, Loon. In the nine-hour clash, one truck plunged into the sea, and by 4:00 p.m. the Boholano forces had taken full control of the bridge and river area — killing about 60 Japanese soldiers, destroying two buses, and capturing 27 guns. It stands as the first and most successful ambush ever recorded in Bohol’s guerrilla warfare history, inspiring more Boholanos to join the resistance and paving the way for the province’s eventual liberation.

We were honored to attend the Holy Mass at Our Lady of Light Shrine Parish, followed by the commemorative rites at the Loon Peace Park, alongside the LGU staff, PNP personnel, and schools in this meaningful tribute to peace and freedom. 🇵🇭

The activity aimed to refresh and enhance the knowledge, skills, and proficiency of personnel in basic ropemanship, including proper handling, tying, and application of essential knots used in rescue and firefighting operations.

The activity also emphasized safety, teamwork, proper rope management, and adherence to standard operating procedures to ensure personnel readiness and effectiveness during emergency response operations.

Through continuous skills enhancement and practical training, the Loon Fire Station remains committed to maintaining a competent, prepared, and responsive firefighting and rescue team.

The activity aims to strengthen business establishments' preparedness by guiding them in developing their Emergency Response Plan, ensuring that owners and employees are equipped with the proper knowledge and skills in fire prevention and emergency response. The discussion also included a demonstration on the proper use of fire extinguishers and practical safety tips to help prevent workplace fire incidents.

Through initiatives like this, the Bureau of Fire Protection continues to empower the community and business sector in building a safer and more fire-resilient environment.

This sport is an effective way to promote weight management, disease prevention, and overall wellness. Such initiatives reinforce the importance of maintaining physical fitness, especially among frontline responders, to ensure readiness in delivering efficient and responsive public service.

Pickleball, known for its accessibility and ease of play, is an excellent sport for all ages—encouraging active lifestyles while fostering camaraderie and community engagement. The BFP Loon FS supports initiatives that promote health and wellness and encourages Loonanons to explore and participate in this emerging sport.
