đ NRES Takes Action for a Cleaner Coast, Joins 2026 International Coastal Cleanup Day
Napoleon Ravanzo Elementary School (NRES) strengthened its commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship as its teachers and learners participated in the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup Day, a division-wide environmental initiative of the Schools Division of Lucena City held on September 19, 2026, at Barangay Ransohan, Lucena City.
Conducted pursuant to Division Memorandum No. 386, s. 2026, the activity supports the observance of International Coastal Cleanup and seeks to increase learnersâ awareness of marine litter, plastic pollution, proper waste management, and the importance of protecting and conserving coastal and marine ecosystems. It also encourages meaningful environmental action through cleanup and related activities that promote volunteerism, teamwork, environmental stewardship, and shared responsibility.
NRES joined hundreds of participants from schools across the division in transforming environmental awareness into concrete action. Beginning early in the morning, participants assembled for registration and briefing before taking part in the coastal cleanup, working together to help remove litter and other waste from the coastal area. The official activity matrix scheduled the cleanup from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., followed by a health break and closing program.
Representing NRES were teachers and selected Grade 5 and Grade 6 learners, who worked alongside fellow participants in demonstrating that protecting the environment begins with simple but meaningful collective actions. The official division list identifies NRES among the participating schools and includes its teacher and learner representatives.
More than collecting waste, the activity became an important learning experience outside the classroom. Through actual participation, NRES learners were given an opportunity to see the effects of improperly disposed waste and understand how individual behavior can either contribute to environmental problems or become part of their solution.
The initiative also reinforced the values of discipline, cooperation, volunteerism, environmental responsibility, and community involvementâqualities that NRES continues to nurture among its learners as part of their holistic development.
By taking part in the International Coastal Cleanup Day, the NRES delegation demonstrated that young learners can become active partners in environmental protection. Every piece of waste collected represented a small but significant contribution toward cleaner surroundings and a reminder that caring for the environment is a responsibility shared by everyone.
For NRES, participation in activities such as the coastal cleanup extends learning beyond books and classrooms. It allows learners to put environmental awareness into practice and experience firsthand the value of working with others toward a common purpose.
Cleaner coasts begin with responsible choices. Through small actions and collective commitment, NRESians continue to make waves for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. đđ

NRES Young Leaders Step Up at SGOD Youth Governance Camp 2026
Napoleon Ravanzo Elementary School (NRES) proudly joined young student leaders from elementary and secondary schools across the Schools Division of Lucena City in the 2026 SGOD Youth Governance Camp at Lucena City National High School.
Designed to develop the next generation of responsible and empowered leaders, the two-day gathering provided NRES learners with meaningful opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, responsible citizenship, teamwork, resilience, health awareness, and active participation in school and community affairs.
The camp was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Youth Formation, Medical Services, Dental Services, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), and Social Mobilization and Networking (SMN) teams under the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD).
On the first day, the NRES delegates joined fellow student leaders in learning sessions focusing on drug prevention, adolescent health, and environmental awareness. The participants also put their knowledge, creativity, and teamwork into action through the Poster Making Contest, Quiz Bee, and Yell and Banner Making Competition.
The day's activities culminated in campfire games facilitated by the Girl Scouts of the PhilippinesâLucena City Council, creating an atmosphere of fellowship where young leaders from different schools were able to build friendships and strengthen camaraderie.
The second day brought another series of engaging activities, beginning with the search for Mr. and Ms. Bright Smile 2026 for the elementary and secondary categories. Local Youth Development Officer Rick Anthony Misiera also attended the gathering and invited the young leaders to participate in the upcoming Youth Convention, further encouraging them to become actively involved in youth development initiatives.
A major highlight of the camp was the rotation through eight interactive learning stations that exposed participants to practical lessons on youth leadership, health and wellness, emergency preparedness, volunteerism, and responsible citizenship.
At the Fire Safety and Rescue Operations Station, facilitated by BFP-Lucena, participants were introduced to Basic Rope Rescue Operations and Techniques (BRRT) through demonstrations and guided activities. Such experiences provided young leaders with practical knowledge that can contribute to preparedness and safety awareness within their schools and communities.
Adding excitement to the station activities, participants collected stickers after successfully completing the assigned tasks. Those who completed all stations received prizes during the awarding ceremony, while winners of the different competitions and recipients of special awards were likewise recognized during the closing program.
The activity was strengthened by the collective support of various government agencies, civic organizations, youth groups, and community partners, including the Local Youth Development Office, City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Bureau of Fire Protection-Lucena, Philippine Red Cross, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Lucena City National High School-Main, Military Volunteers and YES-O Club of LCNHS, and Rotary Club of Lucena, among other partners.
For NRES, participation in the Youth Governance Camp went beyond attending a division activity. It provided its young leaders with an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, interact with fellow student leaders, experience collaborative leadership, and acquire knowledge and practical skills that they can bring back to their school community.
As NRES continues to nurture learners who are not only academically capable but also socially responsible and community-oriented, opportunities such as the SGOD Youth Governance Camp help prepare children to become confident, compassionate, resilient, and responsible leaders of tomorrow.
Young voices. Shared responsibility. Future leaders in action. Go to Greatness, NRES! đđ§Ą

NRES Elevates Learning Resource Quality Through Capacity Building and Expert Technical Assistance
Napoleon Ravanzo Elementary School (NRES) strengthened its commitment to developing relevant, contextualized, and quality-assured instructional materials through the conduct of its school-based activity on Development, Contextualization, Quality Assurance, Production, and Utilization of Learning Resources.
The initiative forms part of the schoolâs comprehensive Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRMDS) program for School Year 2026â2027. Anchored on Republic Act No. 10533, Republic Act No. 9155, DepEd Order No. 001, s. 2021, and DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, the program seeks to strengthen teachersâ capacity to produce learning resources that respond to curriculum standards, learner needs, and the local context.
A significant highlight of the activity was the participation of Dr. Anicia J. Villaruel, Education Program SupervisorâLRMDS, who served as resource speaker and provider of technical assistance to the NRES teaching force. Her participation complemented the activityâs emphasis on capacity building, coaching, mentoring, technical assistance, and the application of quality assurance standards in the development and improvement of learning resources. Dr. Villaruel is likewise identified in the activity design among the participants as EPS-LRMDS.
During her engagement with the teachers, Dr. Villaruel provided focused technical assistance on the development and quality assurance of Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) and Learning Activity Sheets (LAS). Teachers were guided on how instructional materials may be improved in terms of accuracy, appropriateness, relevance, inclusiveness, usability, and technical qualityâconsiderations identified in the schoolâs activity design for the quality assurance of developed and contextualized learning resources.
Beyond learning resource development, Dr. Villaruel also shared practical guidance and valuable tips in preparation for the Gawad Teodora Alonso Awards, particularly for storywriting and storytelling competitions. Her technical inputs provided teachers with additional direction in developing and refining potential entries while nurturing creativity, effective communication, and quality literary outputs.
The activity also provided opportunities for workshops, hands-on activities, collaborative learning, peer review, coaching and mentoring, technical assistance, output presentation, critiquing, reflection, and action planning. These strategies were deliberately incorporated into the program to enable teachers to move from understanding learning resource standards to actually developing, reviewing, revising, and utilizing instructional materials.
Through the initiative, NRES envisions establishing a sustainable system for the development, quality assurance, reproduction, storage, distribution, utilization, and continuous improvement of contextualized learning resources, ultimately contributing to improved teaching effectiveness, learner engagement, and academic achievement.
Under the leadership of Dr. Jennifer M. đŹ NRES TEACHER-RESEARCHERS TAKE CENTER STAGE AS ORAL PRESENTERS AT 2026 DIVISION RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM
Three oral research presentations underscore NRESâ growing culture of inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based practice
LUCENA CITY â Napoleon Ravanzo Elementary School (NRES) further strengthened its commitment to research-driven education as its teacher-researchers presented three research studies through oral presentation during the 2026 Division Research Colloquium for Secondary, North, and West Districts, held on September 11, 2026, at the Pacific Mall Event Theater, under the banner âShaping Tomorrow Together!â
The participation placed NRES among the schools actively contributing research-based knowledge to the Division, with studies addressing three significant areas of basic education: reading intervention, mathematics achievement, and school governance and frontline service delivery.
NRES Researches Address Learning and Governance
Maricel P. Rosales presented âA Back-to-Back (B2B) Strategy: Improving Reading Proficiency Among Grade 6 Frustration and Instructional Learners in the ARAL Program.â Scheduled as the 5th Oral Presentation, the study focused on addressing reading difficulties among Grade 6 learners participating in the ARAL Program, highlighting the school's continuing efforts to strengthen literacy through targeted intervention.
Following this was Ma. Cherie G. Resurreccion, who served as the 7th Oral Presenter for the study âEvaluating the Effectiveness of the Aral Math Program in Improving Mathematics Skills of Grades 1â6 Students at Isabang Elementary School Bocohan Annex.â The research examined the contribution of the ARAL Math Program to improving learners' mathematical skills, providing evidence that can inform the refinement of numeracy interventions and learner support programs.
Capping the NRES presentations were Dr. Jennifer M. Oestar and Jerlyn R. Jao-Salva, who presented âAssessing the Implementation of the Citizen's Charter: Basis for Enhancing Client Satisfaction on School Governance and Frontline Service Delivery in a Public Elementary School.â As the 11th Oral Presentation, the study expanded the school's research engagement beyond classroom instruction by examining governance and service deliveryâdemonstrating how research can likewise be used to strengthen institutional systems and stakeholder satisfaction.
From Research Compliance to Research Culture
For NRES, participation in the Division Research Colloquium represents more than the presentation of completed studies. It reflects the school's continuing effort to establish research as an integral part of professional practice and school improvement.
Through studies grounded in actual school concerns, NRES teacher-researchers demonstrate how classroom challenges, learner needs, programs, and governance processes can become opportunities for systematic inquiry. More importantly, research findings can serve as bases for better interventions, more responsive programs, improved decision-making, and stronger educational services.
The Division Research Colloquium itself provided a venue for educators to exchange findings across a broad range of educational concerns. The official program featured 11 oral research presentations, culminating in the awarding of certificates and closing activities.
Under the leadership of Dr. Jennifer M. Oestar, School Principal I, NRES continues to encourage its teaching and non-teaching personnel to move beyond being consumers of educational knowledge and become creators of evidence, innovators of practice, and contributors to the wider research community.
The three oral presentations affirm a growing research culture at NRESâone where inquiry begins with genuine problems, evidence guides action, and findings are translated into practices that benefit learners, teachers, stakeholders, and the school as a whole.
At NRES, research is not simply writtenâit is presented, shared, applied, and sustained.
Congratulations to Teacher Maricel P. Rosales, Master Teacher Ma. Cherie G. Resurreccion, Dr. Jennifer M. Oestar, and Teacher Jerlyn R. Jao-Salva for proudly representing Napoleon Ravanzo Elementary School and contributing to the continuing advancement of educational research in the Schools Division of Lucena City.
