Attended the Pasakalye sa Drama workshop yesterday, led by Mr. Christian Vallez (Juan Ekis).

Mula sa mga ibinahagi niya, ito ang key takeaway ko:

Ang pagsusulat ng dula ay ang pagre-respond ng isang karakter sa isang tanong o sitwasyon at ang muling pagsagot ng kausap niya. Paulit-ulit ang palitang ito, ngunit dapat alam mo na kung paano magtatapos ang usapan nila. Higit sa lahat, dapat ay papunta sa iisang direksiyon ang bawat eksena at bawat pag-uusap ay patungo sa itinakda mong wakas.

Ito ang una kong workshop sa pagsusulat ng dula, at sa tingin ko, na-cover naman nito ang mahahalagang aral na dapat kong matutunan bilang isang baguhan.

Walang hanggang pasasalamat sa Young Creatives Challenge sa pagbibigay sa akin ng oportunidad na ito, gayundin sa lahat ng malikhaing Pinoy na kasama ko sa journey na ito.

Sa pag-conclude ng patimpalak na ito, marami akong na-realize, natutunan, at naranasan. Natuwa. Nalungkot. Halos bumaliktad ang sikmura sa kaba. Halo-halo. Pero sa huli, mas marami pa ring dapat ikatuwa at ipagpasalamat. Hindi man nasungkit ang grand prize, babaunin ko ang karanasang ito para mas lalong pagbutihin ang pagsusulat ko.

Attended Pitch Please: Stories to Print and Screen by PaperKat Books at the National Book Store Grand Back-to-School and Sulit Reads Fair held at Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall, yesterday (June 14), featuring Direk RC Delos Reyes and Ms. Kath.

Happy Easter!

Life update: After church, I decided to get back into reading after some time. I chose to do it in a café, hoping a different environment would push me to actually read (it did btw).

Today, I picked up Trip to Quiapo by "The" Ricky Lee, which interestingly was also the last book I read before I crammed to write a script for a contest. I’m hoping to finally finish it this time.

Trip to Quiapo is a great guide for aspiring scriptwriters like me. It doesn’t just teach the technical side of scriptwriting. It walks you through the process of embracing the craft, almost like preparing you to enter the world of storytelling.

Hopefully, I can sustain this and start setting aside time every weekend—or even Mondays—(if I have no other plans) to go out and read. My TBR pile has been haunting me!
