Tortured Poet 15
Artist 2: Michael Bublé series
Help Me Make It Through the Night
Michael Bublé and Loren Allred
2018
Love
This is about s*x! It's subtle, but it is about s*xual intimacy. Making it through the night means indulging in pleasure...
Loren Allred's "Come and lay down by my side" is such a sweet gesture of this initial action toward something s*xually intimate. A female singer's initiation to the close proximity of two bodies in the bed. But it's just about asking the person, "All I'm taking is your time." Isn't that sweet and nice? Haha.
"I don't care who's right or wrong
I will try to understand
Let the devil take tomorrow
Lord tonight I need a friend"
Now this verse gets a little dangerous and wild. The persona doesn't care who's right or wrong?? Without thinking, they just wanna have a "friend." I think anyone listening to this could be pushed into something they're gonna regret afterward... like, just be careful. Haha. SMH. With no past and future, the persona is living in the moment where they look for something good with someone to indulge it with. They don't want to do it solo, because "it's sad to be alone." 😏
The last two lines of the song changes the atmosphere of the whole thing. "You don't have to be alone/ I'll help you make it through the night" refers to how the person accepts the persona's invitation for something intimate. And then that's it. We assume that they happily indulge in it. That's quite a love story. That's a narrative right there. You don't have to beg. You don't have to chase it. You simply express that kind of desire. Like, you're saying all these things to that one special person, and that person grants your wish. And you're gonna have your night with them. It's casually romantic. It's simply sensual. It's consensual. It's celebratory. 😌

TP Artist 2: Michael Bublé
Sway
Michael Bublé
2003
This song makes you wanna dance even if you literally don't know how to move from one step to another. It's romantic, and it's subtly sensual if you ask me!
I think the invitation to dance ("dance with me") and "make me sway" coming from a male singer's dancy voice (and it really makes it good that Michael Bublé is the singer in question) makes anyone want to dance. Like, "Oh my, do you want me to dance with you??"
The line "hold me close, sway me more" is both physical and romantic because it uses dance as a symbol of proximity and emotional stimulation. I love that. I love that it makes you 'stimulated,' in a way that captures your feelings.
There's also this concept of ownership—"When we dance, you have a way with me/ Stay with me" That feeling when they give you consent to be as romantic as what the situation you have necessitates. Like?? And the feeling of desire to indulge in the moment, for the moment to last long, for the person to stay with you...
"Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have that magic technique
When we sway, I go weak"
The gaze. The power. The magic of the eyes. The act of stealing glances (or outright staring—only if it's not creepy!). It's not just about how the eyes are caught—it tells us something about this attraction, this appreciation for the person. So many people, but you only see that person for their beauty. That's sweet.
Weakness. Not something medical. But this physical manifestation of intense emotions. It could be interpreted as something s*xual—what if sway means s*x? It makes you weak.
Again, this song could be romantic and sensual but also intimate and s*xual. It could be a s*x song. The one you play to your lover. It could be a party song. Or simply a song that makes you simply go kilig even if you're single. I think that's the amazing thing about this song.
