Over the past decade, Yunnan’s export trade structure with Laos and Thailand has undergone a transformation and upgrade. In 2025, Yunnan’s exports to Laos and Thailand totalled 13.984 billion yuan; compared with 2015, the proportion of primary agricultural products fell from 55.26 per cent to 17.14 per cent, whilst that of intermediate goods and industrial inputs rose from 24.20 per cent to 51.40 per cent, whilst green energy and environmentally friendly products rose from 1 per cent to 11.33 per cent, forming a diversified export structure characterised by “basic agricultural products providing a foundation, industrial intermediate goods serving as a pillar, and green, low-carbon products driving growth”.
