🍶Equipment Care: Wash all pump parts, flanges, and collection containers in warm, soapy water, then air dry completely. Sterilize once daily or per manufacturer/milk bank guidelines.
🫙Containers: Use food-grade, BPA-free plastic milk storage bags or pre-sterilized glass/hard plastic bottles with tight-fitting lids. Avoid standard disposable household bags or plastic liners.
🥛Volume Space: Leave about 1 inch of air space at the top of the container, as frozen milk expands.

3️⃣Transport Protocol for Donors
When transporting donated milk to a hospital, milk bank, or drop-off depot, the primary goal is to keep the milk completely frozen solid.
1.Pre-Chill the Transport Container:Do not place frozen milk in a warm cooler.Use a heavy-duty insulated cooler or thermal bag. Place ice packs or gel packs in the cooler ahead of time to chill the interior space.
2.Pack with Adequate Cooling Agents:Maintain the cold chain throughout transit.Pack frozen milk bags/containers tightly together in the center of the cooler. Surround them completely with frozen ice packs or gel packs (or dry ice if provided by the milk bank for long journeys).
3.Minimize Air Space:Air accelerates thawing.Fill any remaining empty space inside the cooler with extra gel packs, crumpled clean paper, or towels to reduce air circulation.
4.Direct Delivery:Avoid delays during transit.Keep the cooler closed during transit. Deliver directly to the receiving facility or coordinator as quickly as possible without unnecessary stops.Important for Donors: If any milk partially thaws during transport but still contains ice crystals, notify the milk bank immediately—they will evaluate if it can still be processed. Never re-freeze completely thawed milk.
Official World Breastfeeding Month Announcement
🤱✨ CELEBRATING WORLD BREASTFEEDING MONTH! ✨🤱
Donate Breastmilk, Save Fragile Lives!
This World Breastfeeding Month, we honor the incredible power of mother’s milk!
For sick, premature, and vulnerable infants in the NICU and PICU, donated human milk is more than nutrition—it is life-saving medicine.
We are calling on healthy, lactating mothers to share your "liquid gold."
To ensure all donated milk meets Department of Health (DOH) safety standards before it undergoes pasteurization, please follow our safe donation steps below.
Step-by-Step Guide for Safe Breastmilk Donation
1.
♡Proper Hand & Breast Hygiene
▪︎Prevent contamination before pumping
~Wash hands thoroughly with soap and clean running water for at least 20 seconds.
~Clean your breasts and ni***es using a damp, clean cloth with water only (avoid using perfumed soap or lotion right before pumping).
2.
♡Sterilize All Expressing Equipment
▪︎Ensure clean collection tools
~Wash all pump parts, flanges, and storage containers in hot, soapy water.
~Sterilize equipment by boiling in water for at least 10 minutes or using an automatic steam/UV sterilizer before each use.
3.
♡Hygienic Expressing & Packaging
▪︎Use food-grade storage
~Express milk directly into sterilized breastmilk storage bags or sterilized glass/BPA-free plastic containers.
~Do not fill bags/containers to the top—leave about 1 inch at the top to allow expansion when freezing.
~Seal tightly to avoid leaks or air exposure.
4.
♡Proper Labeling & Immediate Freezing
▪︎Track date and volume
~Label each bag clearly using a permanent marker with:
▪︎Name, Date & Time of Collection & Amount of Breastmilk Collected
~Place milk in the freezer immediately after pumping. Keep it at the back of the freezer (away from the door where temperatures fluctuate).
5.
♡Cold Chain Transport to Milk Hub
▪︎Keep milk completely frozen in transit
~Pack frozen milk bags inside a clean cooler box or insulated bag packed with ice packs/ice bricks.
~Transport the milk to our hub as quickly as possible. The milk must remain completely solid/frozen upon arrival.
♧Important Reminders for Donors:
■Health Eligibility:
Donors must be generally healthy, non-smokers, not taking unsafe medications, and willing to undergo basic health screening and on-site laboratory testing. Or lab tests not later than 3 months from the date of donation.
■Cold Chain Maintenance:
Thawed milk cannot be accepted for pasteurization, so keeping it frozen during transport is critical.

Nourishing Pagsanjan, Isang Gatas ng Ina sa Isang Pagkakataon! 🤱💙
Ang Pagsanjan Human Milk Hub ay buong pusong nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng National Breastfeeding Awareness Month ngayong Agosto!
Ngayong taon, ating isinasabuhay ang makabuluhang temang: “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

Nourishing life, building futures and wrapping our youngest with the best start possible! 🤱💙
This August, the Pagsanjan Human Milk Hub proudly joins the global community in celebrating World Breastfeeding Month.
As advocates and champions of maternal and child health, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a nurturing environment where every mother is supported in her breastfeeding journey! Whether through exclusive breastfeeding, working-mother accommodations or the life-saving gift of human milk hub and donation.
Breastfeeding is more than nutrition; it is foundational health, bonding and love. But no mother walks this path alone. It takes a village, a supportive community and an empowered municipality like Pagsanjan to uplift every family.
To all our nursing mothers, milk donors, healthcare workers, Community Health Team and advocates: Thank you for giving our children the best foundation for life. Let us continue to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding together!
