Programs like FullPhils are perfect examples of the need for accessible opportunities to education because they answer a need for lifelong learning.

The Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program is available to all qualified working Filipinos who wish to earn a degree.

This concept along with the example of FullPhils, have the potential and opportunities be further applied to People Deprived of Liberty, domestic helpers, and other marginalized sectors in our society.

27 SEPTEMBER 2026 Nursery Technical-Vocational High School (Learning Resource Center)

An INCUBATOR OF CHANGE

Much like its locale's namesake, NTVHS, formerly Nursery High School is a community that is in its growth stage.

Originally founded in 2012, it was just recently converted into a Technical-Vocational school in 2025. The school also shares its campus property with the City of Masbate Science High School (CMSHS) which also avails of a number of its classrooms and facilities.

In the year of 2021, its central role in the development and formation of the present and future of Minasbate youth was further widened...

"The school also became known for supporting learners who had difficulty continuing their education.

Nursery High School became one of the pilot schools for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Senior High School, helping out-of-school youth and adults continue their studies.

In 2021, the school was among the schools that produced the first batch of ALS Senior High School graduates in the region."

It was during these phases of transitions that NTVHS built their Learning Resource Center (LRC), given that the capital city does not even have a library of its own.

NOT DONE YET

At present, while working with their current crop of 342 students and 37 educators for SY 2026, plus servicing the needs of the CMSHS, and running a daily ALS program, NTVHS and its pioneering community is aspiring to widen their scope of service to the 12,654 residents of their city.

" We want our LRC to be able to serve our neighboring schools like Nursery Elementary and Tugbo Elementary School. We also want to offer our services sa mga alumni namin who are in college already. Ang barangay po namin ang pinaka populated sa lahat ng barangay in our city. And right now po, even the biggest high school po sa aming city ay wala na din pong library. We also want our LRC to be a space where people can access books for free."

Such lofty and yet admirable goals truly encapsulate the spirit of community.

LHP also believes in the continual evolution of communities as reflected in their Learning Resource Center. Libraries are but safe and welcoming spaces that can help extend the dreams and aspirations of anyone and everyone within the community.

It is within this dynamic process that we wish to provide books and materials that can push further the defining role of NTVHS LRC as a repository of learning, discovery, literacy, and community.

Our work with the extended communities of the Learning Resource Center begins.

24 SEPTEMBER 2026 DEPLOYMENT REPORT

Our first deployment for Sadsadan Bato Elementary School, a last mile school in the Northern provinces, has been consummated via a dispatch via CODA Lines.

Consummated but not yet fulfilled because the 3 boxes containing 426 books + 486 materials will be transported to the Banaue Mt. Polis station where it will then be further transported to Brgy Sadsadan at the other Municipality of Bauko.

In the North, one doesn't measure the degree of challenge by miles or kilometers but by time and duration as any traveler of highland geography would know.

What will be the first of many sustained efforts / library hub collections is but a sample and a litmus test of our initial understand of the needs and wants of the local community based on a number of collaborations that led to consequent profiling.

The first curated collection covers a created / printed selection of reading materials from comics, short stories, and handouts than can be used as teachers' references and aids.

There is also a substantial collection of light reading materials and of course reference books.

Considering the last mile status of the community we've provided a selection of supplies materials and also teaching aid materials given the isolation most of these far flung outlying schools face.

Our next collection will then be focus more on supplemental efforts and other inputs from the feedback of the local users.

21 SEPTEMBER 2026 ENGAGEMENT MISSION REPORT

The 2nd half of my engagement mission to the Municipality of Cabangan, Zambales was a special opportunity to visit our dear friends at Alon and Araw Club

With the recent deluge of August and September rains, we've been closely monitoring and gaining updates from our friends about not only the status of their community of fisherfolk families, who could not earn a living due to the weather, but also of the damage incurred on their library hub due to the persistent leaks caused by the unprecedented volume of rain. :( :( :(

Such are the risks and challenges for outlying areas that often bear the brunt of climatic disruptions.

Currently, library hub is undergoing a major clean up and renovation and we are still yet ascertaining the full extent of damage to its contents.

In the meantime, our visit was a time to reconnect again and to engage with the dynamic couple (Donn and Gabi Quintos) to get updates on their multi-layered community programs which range from sports (futsal, football, pickleball, etc), a plan for a future creatives space courtesy of their resident artist (Rap Eya), and of course future directions and evolution of the current library hub.

Other matters undertaken were a turnover of donations to support their rewards and sports programs as well as added lib hub materials.

As co-advocates often do they also generously shared some excess book donations given to them from one of their networked guests.

After our sumptuous lunch which was also filled with fun conversation and laughter (and the good company of resident mascot Alon the Askal), Me and Donn talked about some of the future projects that we are helping to network them with external communities.

Well fed, well informed, and well cared for; the 5 hours commute back to Metro Manila didn't dampen the hope and joy that carried me through the end of the day.

Our work with Alon & Araw continues.

Sept 21 2026 SPECIAL ENGAGEMENT REPORT

The power of collaboration and openness manifests naturally when both parties in the partnership understand that they are simply working towards the same goals, that of improving the welfare of the child and that this intention will mutually translate to supporting the community as well.

Such was the follow-up visit that we made to Cabangan, Zambales fulfilling a pledge to help support their sports program and at the same time help inculcate this healthy culture within the school.

Our pledged pickleball equipment were duly turned over that day.

The visit was also an opportunity to get vital feedback on the use of their library space; what are the materials that impacted the visitors, and how to increase involvement of other students.

Lastly, having the chance to listen to teachers and administrators about their experiences also provides us insights that gives more clarity and direction to our future plans and deployments.

For the trust and welcome that was offered we are deeply grateful and humbled, to Principal Antonio R. Datuin, Ma'ams Marion and Angie for all their inspiring examples of service and commitment to the community of Cabangan.

Until our next visit, our work with San Isidro Integrated School continues.
