Entry #3: 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬

One day is enough
to break free
from this dreadful journey
between life and death,
between truth and lies.

One day isn’t enough
to build a new life
and make it right.
It’ll take time
for me to wake up
and find myself
living the life I so desire.

One day is enough
for me to lose everything,
and leave it behind.
But it takes only a heartbeat
to move forward
and choose different this time.

Entry #2: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗞

I just received my paycheck today,
stared at my grocery list,
and opened my phone to check our bills.
It’s the same routine since I started working.

I divided my money to pay off everything—
made sure I provided for my family.
I thought of buying things for home,
thought of buying things for mom,
thought of buying things for dad,
thought of helping out my brother.

But when everything’s paid off,
and the very last bit of money I had
was used to buy a meal for a child I met in the street—
that’s when it hit me.
I never spared a cent for myself.

Entry #1: 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨

What makes leaving the easiest thing to do?
Leave the life you have.
Leave your family.
Leave your friends.
Leave your community.
And leave someone you love.

It’s tempting, enticing
to leave everything,
everyone behind.
Not look back.
Not turn around.
As if their existence and value
don’t matter at all.

It’s tempting, enticing
to start a new life,
to chase the things you buried within,
to climb the mountains in front of you,
pursue your dreams,
and make them come true.

But leaving has a bittersweet taste.
It’s quite optimistic to begin again,
yet moving forward seems difficult
for someone who cherishes people,
places, and the life they have.

Walking two steps forward
is such a promising future,
but full of misery and hardships
when you’re carrying baggage
you’ve longed to let go, and
tried so hard to throw.

So you end up taking three steps backward—
getting dragged by your duties,
shackled by responsibilities,
and imprisoned by people
you’d gladly sacrifice
your life for.

In reality, moving forward is only easy
when no one depends on you.
To walk away with ease and confidence
is such a far-fetched future
that you always whisper it to the wind—
holding onto a nonexistent hope
that drives you to dream high,
higher than the heavens,
and wider than the blue seas.
