Last September 16, 2026, the different support offices of Saint Catherine of Siena Academy of Samal, Inc., in coordination with the Supreme Student Council, conducted a student reorientation focused on child protection, school safety, and personal responsibility.

The activity reminded every Catherinian of the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and caring school community where everyone feels valued, heard, and protected. Through shared awareness and responsible actions, we continue to build an environment rooted in Faith, Service, and Competence.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose life reflects faith, humility, and loving obedience to God. May her example inspire every Catherinian to serve with compassion and remain faithful to God’s calling.

On National Heroes Day, we remember Dr. José Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini, Gabriela Silang, Tandang Sora, and the many Filipinos who offered their lives, courage, and service for our freedom.

Today, heroism continues through our farmers, teachers, healthcare workers, rescuers, volunteers, environmental defenders, and ordinary citizens who help communities during times of crisis. Even as students, we can become modern-day heroes by speaking the truth, caring for creation, helping those affected by disasters, and standing for what is right.

As many communities, including our own province, continue to experience flooding, we call for urgent environmental action and climate justice. We respectfully urge the National Government to go beyond temporary relief and provide transparent, effective, and long-term solutions; protect our forests, rivers, watersheds, and coastal areas; strengthen disaster preparedness; ensure that public funds truly serve the people; and hold accountable those responsible for ineffective or neglected projects.

May the courage of our heroes inspire us to build a nation where no Filipino is repeatedly left vulnerable whenever heavy rains come. Guided by Faith, Service, and Competence, may we become heroes who protect both our fellow Filipinos and our common home.

Ang kabataan ay hindi lamang pag-asa ng bayan. Ang kabataan din ay katuwang sa pagkilos para sa makatarungan, ligtas, at maunlad na kinabukasan.

Today, we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day in remembrance of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., whose courage and sacrifice became part of our nation’s continuing struggle for democracy and freedom.

In 2004, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Republic Act No. 9256, declaring August 21 of every year as Ninoy Aquino Day and a special nonworking holiday throughout the Philippines.

May this commemoration teach every Catherinian that democracy must be protected through responsible citizenship, respect for human dignity, and the courage to stand for truth and justice. Guided by our values of Faith, Service, and Competence, let us use our knowledge and abilities to help build a peaceful, just, and hopeful nation.

“The Filipino is worth dying for.”

Yesterday, the Catherinian community gathered in faith as we celebrated our First Friday Mass, presided over by our School Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Alwin Bobis.

In his homily, Father Alwin reminded us of the importance of having hearts that are open to God and to one another. Drawing from John Locke's concept of the tabula rasa (blank slate), he encouraged everyone to remain teachable, for listening is the beginning of understanding. He also emphasized that being able to give is a blessing, inspiring us to become generous in sharing our time, talents, and kindness.

Reflecting on the Gospel of Thomas the Apostle, Father Alwin highlighted Christ's comforting words, "Peace be with you," reminding us that true peace comes from trusting in the Lord, even amid our doubts and uncertainties.

May this First Friday celebration continue to strengthen our faith and inspire us to live as true Catherinians—guided by Faith, Service, and Competence.
