ACTS Computer College, the pioneer computer school in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, founded in 1987, is a private non-sectarian higher educational institution with an aim focusing on students’ instruction, research and community services. It offers industry-based curriculum with the state-of-the-art technology, taught by the highly qualified faculty and supported by the dedicated and committed management of the institution. It ensures that students are equipped with the right experience, expertise and excellence supportive of national development goals and standards of global requirements. History
ACTS Computer College was established in the year 1987. It is the pioneer computer school in the premiere town of Sta. It was first located in front of the Provincial Capitol of Laguna at P. It has started with having 115 students. ACTS Computer College initially offered short computer courses namely: Basic Programming Modules, Basic Computer System, COBOL, Lotus 1-2-3 and WordStar. In 1990, the ACTS Computer College offered additional Two- and Three-Year courses such as Computer Technology, Office Management with Computer, Electronic Computer Technician and the Three-Year Computer Information System. The year 1994 was very significant year for the ACTS Computer College. The institution was transferred from its business location, the Provincial Capitol of Laguna, to its new strategic location in EGK Building at P. Bonifacio Street in front of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The corporate name, Advanced Computer Training School, was changed to ACTS Computer College upon approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission signifying the greater changes for the institution. It also made ways for remarkable and more exciting business prospects heading into the future. In the same year, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) approved its new curricular offerings such as Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Bachelor of Science in Information Management (BSIM), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), and Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration (BSBA). These programs are in response to the challenges of the changing global environment in this modern age to produce professional, responsible and global competitive citizens ready to compete with the technological and scientific transformation worldwide. In 1996, with the imminent threat of the Asian Financial Crisis, ACTS Computer College was able to conceptualize a program in response to help fight the crisis and to assist the poverty alleviation program in the nation. The ACTS’ Study Now Pay Later Plan Scholarship was introduced in the same year, followed by the ACTS’ Tuition Fee Discount Scholarship Program in the year 2001 and the ACTS Scholarship Assistance Program (ASAP) in the year 2006. It is a more responsive scholarship program bringing hope, joy and really try to address the needs of the underprivileged but deserving students with the sincere intention of helping them finish their college education to have a decent and a guaranteed career life in the future. In 1998, with the united enduring efforts and guidance of the professional and competent faculty personnel of ACTS Computer College, the institution was able to produce its first batch of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) graduates. Since then, the institution has produced more graduates in BSCS, BSIT, BSBA and BSSA where they were already successful in their respective field of endeavor locally and internationally. In September 16, 2009, with the supreme guidance and blessings from the Almighty GOD, ACTS Computer College built its first branch at the Infanta, Quezon. It was founded and incorporated in service to the Dearest GOD and country. In March 27, 2012, the Commission on Higher Education has given ACTS Computer College the permission to offer curriculum programs such as Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. Its intention is to produce more responsible and dignified graduates towards a sustainable Philippine Economy. ACTS Computer College’s Vision and Mission will continue to respond positively to the fast-changing technology, will continue to help in empowering the students and to make them more resourceful, more innovative and more creative in adapting to change. It will continue to help individuals to compete in the information technology-based global economy and push the beloved country, Philippines, forward, bringing real hope, satisfaction and prosperity of life to everybody. ACTS Computer College’s Practicum Coordinator, Dr. Abiekhay Camillee U. Lavastida, conducted a random and surprise visitation to selected partner industries, offices, and organizations where our Fourth Year College students are currently undertaking their Internship Program.
The visit aimed to monitor and ensure that our student-trainees are actively engaging in their assigned training stations while demonstrating their genuine efforts, abilities, skills, competencies, and professionalism throughout their practicum experience.
The institution also extends its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the various public organizations, private offices, and partner industries that wholeheartedly welcome and support our students. Your guidance, trust, and commitment play a vital role in providing them with a meaningful, relevant, and valuable training experiences that help prepare them for their future careers.
ACTS Computer College is truly grateful for the warm acceptance and continued support of our partner organizations. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration and building lasting partnerships for the benefit of our students and the community.
