Towards Self-Determining Rural Communities Davao Provinces Rural Development Institute, Inc.
(DPRDI) is a non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization based in Tagum City. It is one of the member Rural Development Institutes (RDI's) of the nationwide organization, Philippine Network of Rural Development Institute (PhilNet-RDI). It is organized in 1997 by a group of development activist, environmental protection advocates and local community leaders. DPRDI's development design in anchored on its analysis that poverty is largely concentrated in the rural areas, and resources, finance and social services, are in the hands of the few. The pattern of development that has been pursued has only ensured the continued siphoning of wealth from the countryside that resulted to widespread poverty and degradation of the environment. DPRDI engages in the implementing programs and services in partnership with the marginalized Rural Sectors and Peoples (MRSP) and other development players in pursuit of Rural Development and Democratization (RDD).
