Project R (Previously Known As “Urban Factory”), the brainchild of Architect/Interior Designer Raza Ahsan. In short, every small or large problem matters.
Project R is a design studio where we design, analyze, visualize and invent sheer design “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Airman's Odyssey)
Project R (Previously Known As “Urban Factory”), the brainchild of Architect/Interior Designer Raza Ahsan. Project R is a design studio where we design, analyze, visualize and invent sheer art. The largest gesture down to the smallest element in our designs becomes an expression of the balance and harmony between the compression and expansion of space, the interplay of light and shadow and the rules of scale and proportion. From “Less is a bore” by Robert Venturi to “Yes is more” by Bjarke Ingels, we still stand “Less is more” (Mies van der Rohe). We believe in self-expression of one’s self and is receptive to new ideas and so every member of our team is an integral cog in our system. We prefer to experiment and invent and to not play by the textbook rules. We contest the norms and build our own. All of our designs focus on the seamless integration between the built and natural setting. Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Furniture Design and Landscape Design all thrive together under the roof of our studio-the stage for action. In a democratic, studio-like environment; the team proactively engages in discussion, and seeks to tear down banal ideas to redefine themselves. We look for projects that inspire and challenge us, and client partners who share our commitment to quality and artistry.

Project: Villa S
Area: 22,295 sq.ft
Location: Gulberg Greens, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Seeking a more “green” and welcoming design, the initial study considered building the house with Cross Laminated Timber, where the finish and structure would be integrated. It resulted in the use of concrete slats that mimicked charred wooden boards on the facade.
The entire house receives abundant natural light and interacts harmoniously with the gardens, ensuring a wonderfully airy and sunlit living experience. Thus, constructing a new space to inhabit, on another level and with panoramic views.

Project: The Framehouse
Area: 24,000 sq.ft
Location: Bedian Rd. Lahore, Pakistan.
Located in a fortified property with only 12 houses in the vicinity, this project addresses the challenge of preserving the location’s identity and balancing user aspirations. The design of the outdoor spaces encircles the house, offering range of views and environments, highlighted by changes in material. The materials used were chosen to harmonise with the environment.
The foam concrete blocks complemented by contemporary concrete overhangs. The upper volumes are finished in textured plaster matching the foam-concrete. Overtime, it blends effortlessly into its surroundings, becoming an integral part of the landscape, concealed among the trees.

Project: The Pox
Area: 18,000 sq.ft
Location: Islamabad.
The project came from dialogue and conversation with our clients in search of a refuge space, a broader concept of home. The project is divided into multiple volumes with two main objectives, the first with the intention of inhabiting nature and using it as a privacy filter between them. The separations increase depending on the program they contain, the library of the living room, and the kitchen even more until the bedrooms are completely separated.
The displacement of the volumes creates transition spaces and courtyards. This is to provide specific views for the use of each space, keeping in context the topography of the land.
