What does actually fixing Research-Backed Growth look like in practice?
Not the linkedIn-post version. The real one.
It starts with naming the actual problem, Guessing at strategy instead of testing it, instead of guessing. Then it's a matter of rebuilding the process around what's really happening, not what everyone assumes is happening.
That's the whole difference between businesses that fix this and businesses that talk about fixing it.

A growth-stage business came to us with a problem they couldn't quite name.
Turned out it was revenue that depends entirely on the founder's personal network.
We rebuilt their approach to predictable revenue systems around what was actually happening in their funnel, not assumptions, not best practices copied from someone else's business.
Within a quarter, the numbers moved. More importantly, they stopped depending on guesswork to grow.

Before: Hiring their way out of a systems problem.
After: a system built around scaling without ballooning headcount that doesn't depend on guesswork.
The gap between those two states isn't more effort or more budget. It's one deliberate shift in how the business approaches this problem.
Most companies stay stuck in "before" far longer than they need to.

There's a myth going around about CAC vs LTV, and it's costing founders real money.
The myth: chase the version that looks best on a dashboard.
The reality: Chasing the lowest CAC instead of the most profitable customer.
I've sat across the table from enough growth-stage teams to know this pattern repeats itself, the metric looks fine, the business doesn't feel fine.
Stop optimizing for the number that's easy to report. Start optimizing for the one that's actually tied to profit.
Repost this if it's true for your business too.

"We just need to work harder on this."
That's the belief holding a lot of founders back on positioning before advertising.
The real issue isn't effort. It's that running ads before anyone knows why you're different, and no amount of hustle fixes a structural problem.
Once you stop treating it as a willpower issue and start treating it as a systems issue, everything gets easier.

A shift is happening around lead quality over volume, and most businesses haven't caught up yet.
For years, the default was volume, more leads, more traffic, more activity.
Now the businesses pulling ahead are the ones who fixed generating leads that never convert into paying customers first, before scaling anything else.
It's a quiet shift. No one's posting about it. But it's showing up in who's actually growing and who's stuck running the same playbook harder.
Repost this if it's true for your business too.

A lower Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) doesn't always mean a healthier business.
That's one of the biggest misconceptions in growth marketing. I've seen businesses celebrate a lower CAC while overlooking what actually drives profitability.
Here's the question every founder should be asking:
"How much revenue does each acquired customer generate over time?"
A business that acquires customers at $300 with a 5× lifetime return is often in a stronger position than one acquiring customers at $100 who barely break even.
The goal isn't to chase the lowest CAC.
The goal is to build a customer acquisition system that consistently attracts high-value customers, improves marketing ROI, and creates predictable revenue growth.
Before reducing your marketing budget, ask yourself:
• Are we attracting the right customers?
• Do we measure CAC alongside Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)?
• Which acquisition channels generate the highest-profit customers—not just the cheapest leads?
The businesses that scale don't optimize for cheaper leads. They optimize for profitable growth.
What's more important to your business today, lower CAC or higher customer lifetime value?

The most common mistake I see around marketing-sales alignment?
Marketing hands off leads sales can't close.
It doesn't look like a mistake in the moment, it looks like business as usual. Everyone's doing it, so it feels safe.
But it's quietly capping growth. Fix this one thing and most of the downstream problems get a lot easier to solve.
Save this for when you need it.
