World Refugee Day & 75 Years of the Refugee Convention Commemoration
On the eve of World Refugee Day and the 75th anniversary of the Refugee Convention, the UNHCR Sub-Office Quetta organized a meaningful ceremony with the participation of partner organizations.
The Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, Balochistan, honored the event as Chief Guest, along with representatives from various partner organizations.
During the ceremony, UNHCR recognized and appreciated the valuable contributions of its partners and presented Certificates of Appreciation in acknowledgment of their continued efforts and collaboration.
Special recognition was given to the Innovative Development Organization (IDO) for its dedicated role in supporting humanitarian and development initiatives.

Mr. Zeru Maru, Program Officer from the UNHCR Islamabad Country Office, visited the IDO Office and Urban Cohesion Hub (UCH), Quetta, where he interacted with program participants and observed the progress and outcomes of various livelihood interventions. During the visit, he appreciated the exceptional craftsmanship and creativity of the talented artisans and admired the diverse range of quality products showcased at IDO’s Product Display Center. He commended the role of the Urban Cohesion Hub and Product Display Center in promoting local artisans, enhancing the visibility and marketability of their products, and contributing to sustainable livelihood opportunities. His encouraging remarks and engagement with participants were highly motivating for the artisans and the IDO team alike.

IDO in collaboration with School Education Department GoB and with financial support of UNICEF started the Project for capacity building of all concerned actors of School Education Department GoB on the "Balochistan Education Clustering Framework 2025", introduced under the reforms agenda for decentralized education governance. At the onset of the Project, a 3-Day "Training of Trainers Workshop" was successfully conducted at Bureau of Curriculum & Extension Centre (BOCEC), Quetta. 16 master trainers and 16 co-trainers from within the SED GoB were trained for rollout training program in all 36 districts of Balochistan. Pilot testing of training curriculum developed by IDO with extensive support and guidance from Directorate of School and ESP was demonstrated with a live group of 20 cluster heads in this ToT workshop.
The Special Secretary Mr Salam Achakzai addressed participants as Chief Guest in the closing ceremony and distributed course completion certificates among trainers & cluster heads. He also presented honorary shields to Mr Akhtar Muhammad Kehtran Director of School, Mr Munir Ahmed Nodezai, Director of School (Monitoring)and Ms Fauzia Shaheen Lead Trainer IDO.
In the end Director of Schools presented the "Shield of Honor" to the Chief Guest.
The training teams, trained in ToT workshop will start rollout training program in all 36 districts by next Monday to train 1600 cluster heads and DEOs.
