Multiasm
A novel approach for energy-efficient, high performance and compact programming for next-generation
EU software engineers Funded by the European Union.
The MultiASM project aims to deliver a comprehensive, high-quality curriculum, study, and teaching materials in blended and inverted learning models on green, energy-efficient, compact, and low-level programming techniques. We want to train the next generation of software engineers directly (in class) and indirectly (MOOCs), promoting European technology heritage and solutions worldwide and fitting recent EU activities (The Chips, Act, EIP, EuroHPC). Project implementation covers a curriculum on assembler programming for all classes of digital devices:
- embedded/IoT (AVR),
- mobile and portable (ARM),
- and full-size and server/cluster computers: Intel/AMD (CISC). It includes in-classroom study materials in the form of presentations and self-study (hard copy book, PDF) and online MOOC modules, exchangeable with the classical model, in the form of blended study and inverted learning models. Several dissemination activities will be run at HEs. We expect to introduce modules of the Assembler programming curriculum to all consortium HE members and beyond through the classical and blended study model. The Assembler programming curriculum will consist of 4 modules, which will be piloted by 3 HEs and then integrated with their current curriculums. We will share practices on energy-efficient and green programming. We will use qualified European engineers to support the development of the EU initiatives (The Chips Act, EuroHPC, EPI). Views and opinions expressed are, however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the National Agency (FRSE). Neither the European Union nor FRSE can be held responsible for them.

Summer time is falling, and we have some good news before next semester starts. Starting now, you no longer need to use a shell to compile and run ARM code on our Raspberry Pi 5 farm: simply use Visual Studio Code with this plugin: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=pczekalski-dev.arm-assembler
No pain, no need to manually upload.
A special bonus for Linux Desktop users: you can now also run ARM code on your Intel machines, locally! Follow the details on the plugin's marketplace page.

Yes, it works!
We're proud to announce the pre-release of the one and only remote, distance-learning laboratory for assembler programming of embedded-class devices. With the use of a web browser only, you can now experience real hardware programming on the lowest level: full control over the hardware, no framework overheads, fast and compact code, and live video streams of the laboratory nodes.
We're in the final stage of the tests, and limited availability of 10 AVR nodes is expected at the beginning of April 2026.
Hosted exclusively by Wydział Automatyki Elektroniki i Informatyki Politechniki Śląskiej, in collaboration with Riga Technical University, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, ITT Group, Tallinn University of Technology and itSilesia.
Due to the installation of the new laboratory nodes, one of our labs (VREL NextGen at SUT) will be temporarily suspended for up to 4 days. Regards: https://iot.aei.polsl.pl. Sorry for the inconvenience. New laboratory nodes for programming in Assembler using remote access are just around the corner.

Successful MultiASM Dissemination Seminar in Tallinn 🇪🇪
Today, ITT Group organised a dissemination seminar in Tallinn, Estonia, in collaboration with the TalTech Centre for Engineering Pedagogy. The event brought together 45 participants from both industry and vocational education institutions.
During the seminar, we introduced the latest results of the MultiASM project, showcasing practical applications for both vocational schools and companies. Participants were presented with concrete ways to integrate assembler programming into modern training and industrial contexts.
We also shared access to the project’s key outputs, including:
📘 The MultiASM textbook
🎓 MOOC-based online courses
🧪 Remote laboratory environment for hands-on learning
All materials are available through the project’s online platforms, supporting flexible and scalable adoption across education and industry.
This dissemination activity contributes to the project’s objective of promoting innovative, energy-efficient and high-performance programming education solutions across Europe .
