itSELF is founded in 2005 by Ricardo Falcon and Estevan Furlan, two talented musicians from Brazil. The band has played extensively in more than 20 countries around the world, between 2009 and 2013. Unfortunately, life threw a little curveball into their ambitions. itSELF had to come to an unexpected and sudden halt in 2013 but this did not stop the drive and determination of Ricardo who, during the halt years gained invaluable experience by playing in 100 guitars from Hel from Alexi Laiho, and been part of the band Sinister, recording the album Syncretism as a bassist and as a guitarist. In addition, he worked with Belphegor as a session guitarist, doing approximately 150 concerts in Europe, North America, and Japan. During this period, Ricardo also traveled extensively as a musician and teacher, working in countries such as Spain, Netherlands, Germany, and Poland, continuing to teach and promote his music via Skype from all corners of the globe. In 2020, after the world was hit by the global Covid-19 pandemic, Ricardo regrouped and rejuvenated the itSELF project, culminating in a successful crowdfunding campaign that received over 500 backers in 35 countries, mirrored in their new album, The Absence. Today, itSELF is backed by three of the most talented and renowned musicians, namely Carsten Altena from The Monolith Deathcult, Linus Klausenitzer from Obsidious / ex-Obscura, and Jason Peppiatt from Psycroptic, with each bringing their own impressive additions to the collective sound. As if that wasn't enough, itSELF also features some special guests like Helle Bogdanova (Ignea), Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation), and several other musicians performing Atabaque, Agogo, Caxixi, Gregorian chant, Santur, etc. All this being carefully mixed and mastered with dexterity by Hertz Studio, and its artwork being perfectly portrayed by Björn Gooßes from Killustrations. With the reformation and newfound direction of the band, itSELF is now looking to establish itself as a premier international metal band, focusing on creative expression, artistic diversity, and high-energy performances, as they move forward toward a bright and creative future. itSELF is living proof that no matter where your dreams start, if you work hard enough, you can make them a reality. The musical hibernation from 2013 to 2020 wasn't easy but it made the duo stronger than they've ever been, and they are confident that they will continue to fuel their passion through The Absence. itSELF is:
