September 21, 2024 — 21 participants at El Legado Golf Club & Resort.

And just like that… VGA-PR was born! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🇵🇷🇺🇸

The number 21 appearing on that special day was no coincidence. It felt destined for greatness—just like our National Hero, Roberto Clemente, who proudly wore #21 throughout his legendary career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

325 Members and Two years later, we celebrate the vision, the friendships, the passion, and the journey that began that day.

Unfortunately, over the past several years, the Veteran Golfers Association has encountered multiple cases involving individuals who intentionally misrepresented or concealed the truth about their military service.

These cases have included:
* A Marine Corps officer who intentionally concealed a dishonorable discharge.
* A Navy nurse who falsely claimed to have sustained a neck injury from an enemy rocket attack in Afghanistan.
* An Army chaplain assistant who intentionally shot himself in an effort to be removed from a combat zone.
* The son of a Vietnam Veteran who claimed to have earned a Purple Heart while serving in the Marine Corps, despite never having served a single day in the United States Armed Forces.

It is unfortunate that this message is even necessary, but our position must be unmistakably clear:

STOLEN VALOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

The VGA is built upon the collective values of honor, integrity, service, and sacrifice. Misrepresenting military service, combat experiences, injuries, or discharge status dishonors the men and women who legitimately served, sacrificed, and earned the right to tell those stories and wear those decorations.

Any VGA member found to have intentionally falsified, fabricated, concealed, or materially misrepresented their military service, military record, or eligibility will be subject to immediate disciplinary action, up to and including permanent expulsion from our organization. We highly encourage other organizations to do the same.

The VGA will always stand with those who have served honorably and protect the integrity of the community we have built together.

There is no place for stolen valor in the Veteran community.

There is no place for it in the VGA. 🫡🇺🇸🏌️‍♂️🇺🇸🏌️‍♀️
