In my life I've been given an incredible amount of gifts. Aside from life, the greatest gift of all, being able to share space with these Gentlemen is an honor. On this occasion, I was able to witness and enjoy watching how true professionals train. Not only was he humble, approachable, engaging and talkative, he seemed like a totally normal individual. Which he is. But you wouldn't know it from watching him give it his all while fighting for a title, defending a title or simply fighting in order to get ranked for his next belt. Standing with me on this pic is Cidra's own, two-division titlist (130 -IBF-, 135 -WBO-), one of the best fighters to come out of this beautiful island, José "Sniper" Pedraza ( .pedraza on Instagram). His record as of now stands at 27-3, 13 KO's and we can't wait to see what's next in this young man's career.

Standing next to me is a Gentleman who, to most Puerto Ricans, requires ZERO introduction. This man brought us a TON of joy with his victories upon earning himself Champion status within the WBO ( ) in two different weight classes (122 and 126 pound divisions). Straight out of Juncos, Puerto Rico, Juan Manuel "Juanma" López (36-6-1, 32 KO's). was and continues to be an inspiration to many youngsters in Puerto Rico who dream of one day becoming something in anything. He overcame all kinds of obstacles to get to the top of the boxing world and that in and of itself is something to celebrate. ¡Felicidades Juanma por una exitosa carrera boxística y GRACIAS por darnos tanta alegría con tus victorias!

Here at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with former pro boxer Carlos de León Jr. (22-3-2, 14 KO's) and, wearing the PR 🇵🇷 shirt, my boy Omar "Oh" Henry (12-0-1, 9 KO's). Funny story, when we took this pic (March 12th, 2011) Omar kept messing with "Baby Sugar" and asked me if I knew who he was. Of course, me being the boxing FANATIC that I am, I replied "Of course I know who you are! Not only do I know your Dad is a Puerto Rican legend and former WBC Cruiserweight World Champion, I saw your fight with Buddy McGirt's son James McGirt Jr. (then 18-0, 9 KO's) on Showtime and remember you knocking him out!". Omar then said "See?... People DO know who you are!". Not sure what kind of conversation they had before that but, after Omar said that, we all busted out laughing. RIP Omar Henry and, to Carlos Jr. I would like to send out my [extremely late] condolences on his Dad's passing earlier this year. RIP Carlos "Sugar" De León

Just before the Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Mayorga fight I bumped into this gentleman at the lobby of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. A former pro fighter in his own right with a record of 32-10-5, 10 KO's and now trainer at the World famous Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas... Ladies and Gentlemen, "Jazzy" Jeff Mayweather ( ). Had a BLAST that evening and, in part, I have to thank people like Mr. Mayweather who was very approachable and always appears to enjoy kickin' it with the fans. Nights like that, you NEVER forget... 🥊💪🔥

Yeap... The man with the big 'ol smile standing next to the other man with the big 'ol smile is me. Standing next to me is none other than 1996 (Atlanta) Olympics Bronze Medallist and former WBA (Super), WBC and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion... Mr. "You got any excuses tonight Roy?"... "The Magic Man" Antonio Tarver (31-6-1-1, 22 KO's). was the man responsible for giving Roy Jones Jr. (at the time considered the best Pound-for-pound boxer in the World) his first knockout loss courtesy of an INSANE counter-looping left hand that sent Jones to the canvas in such a bad shape, Jones was unable to regain his compoSure and thus prompting Referee Jay Nady to stop the fight. Although he was still able to go on to big fights, Roy was never the same fighter afterwards. Much respect to Antonio Tarver on ALL his achievements in and out of the ring. So... In going to Las Vegas to watch boxing and do what I do best (write about boxing), I came across this Gentleman. SUPER humble, very engaging and ALWAYS cool with the fans. Ladies and Gentlemen, a man who [to many] needs no introduction... Someone who could make you laugh with his honesty and just with his demeanor... Three-Division World Champion (115, 118 and 126) and 2017 Inductee into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Johnny "Mi Vida Loca" Tapia. What was funny about this day is I was so star-struck that neither one of us could stop laughing so, he wouldn't let me go until the picture came out just right. Us fight fans will NEVER forget you Man!! RIP Champ!!! ABQ Stand Up!!! 🔥🥊💪
