As we are installing the artworks in the gallery for tomorrow’s exhibition, we share some of the photos taken by artists during yesterday’s Gallery Crits, the moment in which each of the artists receives feedback from the group as a whole led by the team at PADA as well as by the guest curator, Paula Ferreira.

In the end, Paula Ferreira and PADA’s team decide which pieces will go onto the final exhibition.
Some of the pictures were taken by Jade Zammit, Flávio Rodrigues and Ros Ford.

All are invited to visit us this Saturday, from 18:00 to 21:00.

Enquanto estamos a fazer a instalação dos trabalhos do grupo de artistas na galeria para a exposição de amanhã, partilhamos algumas das fotografias tiradas por artistas durante as Gallery Crits de ontem, um momento em que cada artista recebe feedback do grupo no seu conjunto, numa sessão orientada pela equipa da PADA, bem como pela curadora convidada, Paula Ferreira.

No final, Paula e a equipa da PADA decidem que peças integrarão a exposição final.

As we close in on the last week of PADA 59’s residency and final exhibition, we look back at the last days here at PADA. In the first photo, an image taken while Ros Ford guided a collective workshop on monoprinting. The next photos highlight the Guest Curator visit, where Paula Ferreira went from studio to studio to discuss the works that are currently being developed and to start laying the groundwork for the upcoming exhibition. This selection also includes photos from the 1-2-1’s with the residency curator, Tânia Geiroto Marcelino.

À medida que nos aproximamos da última semana e exposição final da residência da PADA 59, fazemos uma retrospectiva dos últimos dias aqui na PADA. Na primeira fotografia, uma imagem captada enquanto Ros Ford estava a orientar um workshop coletivo sobre monotipia. As fotos seguintes destacam a visita da curadora convidada, durante a qual Paula Ferreira percorreu os estúdios para discutir os trabalhos que estão atualmente a ser desenvolvidos e para começar a lançar as bases para a exposição do final da residência. Last week the group of artists in residence went on a tour that aimed to introduce them to the portuguese art scene. Guided by the residency’s curator, they visited galleries, museums and artists’ studios across Lisbon. On Saturday, the 26th of September, we are hosting the final exhibition and open studios of PADA 59. The exhibition is curated by Paula Ferreira and will display works that have been created by the artists in residency this last month. Visitors will also be able to see the studios and get a deeper understanding of the works developed in residency.

No sábado, dia 26 de setembro, acolhemos a exposição final e os open studios do grupo de artistas da PADA 59. A exposição tem a curadoria de Paula Ferreira e mostra alguns dos trabalhos criados pelo grupo de artistas em residência neste último mês. Visitantes poderão visitar os estúdios de artistas em residência e perceber de forma mais aprofundada os trabalhos desenvolvidos em residência.

Paula Ferreira is an independent researcher, writer and curator. Born in São Paulo, she divides her time between Brazil and Portugal.

Her work draws on the practice of writing to critically examine modes of circulation and production in the cultural field. She founded Aos Cuidados, a project that brings together various initiatives—including exhibitions, film cycles, publications and discussion groups—to explore the intersections between the ecologies of care and art.

In parallel, she develops projects for cultural institutions and platforms, focusing on critical, curatorial and institutional writing, research, editing and project coordination, having collaborated with MAC/CCB, Culturgest, Contemporânea, ZUM (Instituto Moreira Salles), Binah Editora and Galeria Mala, amongst others. She was part of the team for the fifth edition of Anozero – Bienal de Coimbra, as assistant curator, under the curatorship of Ángel Calvo Ulloa and Marta Mestre. She was executive coordinator of Atlantic, an initiative that commissioned the work KaOuS by the artist biarritzzz.

A week has passed since the arrival of PADA 59’s group. Artists have met each other and presented their practices to the group, visited the industrial park, went through some of the small industrial companies that neighbour PADA, and today, went to visit the Industrial Museum. Here are some photos of these first few days.

O grupo de artistas conheceu-se entre si e apresentou os seus trabalhos ao grupo, visitou o Parque Industrial e as pequenas empresas na vizinhança da PADA e, hoje, foram visitar o Museu Industrial.
