Some of the most meaningful moments in baseball have very little to do with the final score.
Papรก grew up going to St. Louis Cardinals games with Abuelo, Abuela, and Tia Jojoโdays at the ballpark that created memories lasting a lifetime.
Years later, the great game brought those generations together again.
Papรก, Liam, Lila, Abuelo, and Abuela headed to St. Louis for Liam and Lilaโs second-ever Major League Baseball gameโand the chance for Papรก to share something that was such a special part of his own childhood.
We stayed overlooking Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch, waking up to two unmistakable symbols of St. Louis outside our window.
Then came game day.
๐ญ Bratwurst and nachos
๐ฅ Seeing and hearing a broken batโan instant fascination
๐๐ผ Watching a home run leave the yard
๐ฆ Meeting Fredbird and receiving a stuffed version as the stadium giveawayโour new best friend
๐ฃ Running the bases after the game
โค๏ธ And a Cardinals victory
But the best part wasnโt any one of those moments.
It was who we shared them with.
Baseball connects peopleโparents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, past and present. Experiences that were once part of Papรกโs childhood became part of Liam and Lilaโs childhood, too.
From Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch, to the crack of a broken bat, to running the same bases where Major Leaguers play, it all became another piece of our familyโs baseball story.
Someday, the home run, final score, and even the broken bat may fade a little.
But being there togetherโPapรก, Liam, Lila, Abuelo, and Abuela?
Those are the stories weโll tell forever.
Different generations. Same family. Same game. New memories.
Thatโs the beauty of baseball.

There are some experiences you know youโll carry with you forever.
Standing together at Machu Picchu, high in the Andes, alongside Grandpa Don โ 90 years young โ is certainly one of them.
We had the opportunity to share the game along the way, but this experience became about so much more than baseball.

Having the opportunity to coach alongside Grandpa Don was incredibly special.
To share that space together โ on a different continent, in a different language, with a group of young Peruvian children โ is something Iโll always treasure.
At 90, he didnโt simply come along to watch. He got involved. He engaged. He interacted with the kids. And he did it all with the energy, curiosity, and smile of the youthful man he continues to be.
More than five decades separate us, but on this day we were simply two coaches sharing the space and sharing the experience together.
I am VERY grateful for this one.

Different backgrounds. Different experiences. Different languages.
But through the game, we connected.
We played, laughed, learned, built relationships, and shared an experience that we will always remember.
Thatโs the power of this great game โ bringing people together. ๐ค๐ต๐ช

We took the game from the field to the sidewalk.
No field. No equipment setup. Just a ball, some kids who wanted to keep playing, and a little more time together.
Sometimes the best moments happen after the plan is finished.
โพ ๐๐๐คโ๐จ ๐ง๐๐๐๐ฎ ๐๐ค๐ง ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐ก๐ก?
Sometimes it doesnโt take much to keep the game going.
One ball. A group of kids ready to play. And a street that became our next field.

A few tennis balls and a chance to try something new.
Working on hand-eye coordination, tracking and reactions โ some of the building blocks that eventually lead us into baseball.
With a group experiencing the game for the first time, the biggest thing was simply giving them a chance to try, learn, and have fun doing it.
Keep it simple. Keep it fun. Keep them smiling.

Get them engaged. Get them communicating. Get them smiling.
Then give them a chance to learn the game.
Sometimes the best coaching starts with creating an environment kids simply want to be part of.

Run. Jump. Balance. React. Coordinate.
And do it all with a smile! ๐
For many of these kids in Peru, baseball was something completely new.
So we started with movement โ creating an environment to participate, learn, laugh, and develop skills that extend beyond the game.
Then we added the baseball-specific skills!

Baseball has taken me to some pretty incredible places, but this one was a little different.
Ball in hand. Mototaxi. And on our way to spend the day sharing the game with a group of kids in Peru โ many experiencing baseball for the first time.
No fancy facilities. No complicated setup.
Just an opportunity to introduce the game, create some smiles, and see where a ball and a little bit of enthusiasm could take us.
ยกVamos! โพ๐ต๐ช
