Some people say a friend you’ve never met can’t compare to someone who’s physically there for you.
Others say connection is connection , distance doesn’t make it less real.
I’m genuinely curious where you land on this.

NYC just banned AI for public school kids through 8th grade, around 600,000 students. Teachers can still use it for planning; students that age can’t.
Good call, or a mistake?
✅ Protects critical thinking, cuts cheating and screen time.
❌ Kids need AI literacy now, banning it just pushes unsupervised use at home.

“Every AI chatbot, video generator, and smart assistant runs on massive data centres and they’re thirsty and power-hungry. Globally, data centres already use as much electricity as entire countries like Japan, and by 2030 that demand is expected to double to about 3% of all the world’s electricity. Their water use is projected to reach 9.3 trillion litres by 2030, enough to meet the needs of hundreds of millions of people.”

Is AI’s progress worth that cost, or should we slow down and rethink how we build and power it?

Reports show AI firms buying old/rare books, cutting spines, scanning pages, then trashing the originals. Courts call it ‘fair use’; critics call it cultural destruction.
A) Preserve the physical: no destructive scanning of rare or unique copies, or B) Knowledge matters more, digitise even if the original is lost.

Unpopular opinion: most people talk about investing but never say WHERE their money actually is. 👀 Will you say?

Nearly 40 countries are now discussing or enacting bans on social media for under 16s.
Australia went first in December 2025 and 4.7 million teen accounts were suspended in the first month. But a government study in March 2026 found 7 in 10 under-16s are still finding ways back on the platforms.
Spain, France, the UK, Canada, and even the EU (pushing for under 13s) are following. Big Tech says it’s fighting a losing battle for public opinion.
So, is this real child protection, or just political theater that tech-savvy teens will bypass in a week?

We tell boys: don’t cry, toughen up, be strong.
Then we tell them: treat girls like they’re fragile, protect them, go easy on them.
Isn’t that confusing? We ask boys to suppress every soft emotion in themselves, but assume girls are made of glass.
Research on masculinity norms shows a real pattern here, surveys have found that a large share of men recall being told as boys that “boys don’t cry” and that they should “toughen up,” while very few women recall being told “girls don’t cry”.
Separately, mental health researchers have linked this kind of emotional suppression in boys to worse outcomes later, including lower rates of seeking help for mental health struggles. I
Maybe it’s not about boys being “strong” and girls being “fragile”, maybe it’s about letting everyone be human first.

We share where we are, what we buy, what we think, who we love, and sometimes even what we are struggling with.
Being online makes life easier but it also makes a quiet, private life feel almost unusual.
Maybe privacy is no longer something everyone has.
Maybe it is something people have to actively protect.
What is one thing you would never share online?

hort-form videos give us constant stimulation, but are they quietly weakening our ability to focus deeply?
Fast content is entertaining and convenient. Still, when every moment needs to be exciting, slow tasks like reading, studying, or simply thinking can start to feel difficult.
