From research to practical climate adaptation.

The MoreAdaptBSB team at Одеський державний аграрний університет (OSAU) contributed to the project’s dissemination through the publication of scientific results in the international peer-reviewed journal “Technogenic and Ecological Safety.”

The publication presents how GIS-based analysis, remote sensing methods and environmental monitoring can support the assessment of climate vulnerability in coastal territories of the Black Sea region.

By connecting scientific research with field evidence, the project strengthens the knowledge base for Nature-Based Solutions, coastal green infrastructure and evidence-based climate adaptation planning.

Together, we transform research into lasting impact for a more resilient Black Sea region.

Sharing knowledge is an essential part of building climate resilience.

This spring, the MoreAdaptBSB team at Одеський державний аграрний університет actively disseminated the project’s work through participation in two international scientific conferences.

The presentations highlighted the role of international university cooperation, research, environmental education and stakeholder engagement in supporting climate adaptation across the Black Sea region.

Through dialogue with researchers, students and conference participants, MoreAdaptBSB continues to strengthen its visibility and connect science with practical climate resilience.

Together, we turn knowledge into cooperation for a greener and more adaptable future.

Every place has its own story.

Through this local perspective, MoreAdaptBSB highlights how nature-based solutions can help green and coastal spaces become more resilient, more useful and more connected to the communities around them.

The project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, is implemented in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine, supporting climate adaptation across coastal and urban areas of the Black Sea region.

Because a greener space is not only more beautiful.
It can also be more functional, more alive and more necessary.

Less vulnerability, more adaptability.

Climate data becomes useful when it helps people make better decisions.
For adaptation to work, information needs to be translated into clear priorities, practical actions and locally
relevant solutions.
MoreAdaptBSB connects remote sensing, nature-based approaches and stakeholder cooperation to support stronger climate resilience across the Black Sea region.
From data to local action.

A resilient green space is not created by planting randomly.

It needs the right location, suitable plant species, water-aware design and long-term care.

When green spaces are planned with climate risks in mind, they can support healthier ecosystems and more adaptable communities.

Through MoreAdaptBSB, nature-based solutions are promoted as part of a broader approach to climate resilience in coastal and urban areas.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for climate adaptation.

A coastal area, an urban neighborhood and a peri-urban landscape may face different pressures and need different responses.

That is why local knowledge, environmental data and cooperation between partners are essential.

MoreAdaptBSB works across the Black Sea region to support a more place-based understanding of climate vulnerability and resilience.

Climate adaptation is stronger when water and green spaces are planned together.

Blue-green infrastructure connects natural water systems, urban greenery, soils, parks and coastal areas into one resilience approach.

It can help communities think beyond single interventions and move toward smarter, more integrated planning.

MoreAdaptBSB supports this kind of thinking across coastal and urban areas in the Black Sea region.

How does climate adaptation move from an idea to action?

It starts with understanding local vulnerabilities.
Then data and remote sensing help reveal where risks are stronger.
Nature-based solutions can then support practical adaptation measures.
And local communities remain at the center of long-term resilience.

This is the approach behind MoreAdaptBSB: connecting knowledge, nature and cooperation across the Black Sea region.

Some climate risks are visible only when we look at places from a wider perspective.

Remote sensing can help identify patterns in vegetation, land surface conditions, water stress and environmental change. This kind of information can support better planning before problems become more difficult to manage.

In MoreAdaptBSB, remote sensing is part of the project’s approach to understanding vulnerability and supporting climate adaptation in coastal and urban areas.

From data to better decisions.
