Pornind de la filosofia ecologiei și de la interdependența dintre organisme, mediu și activitatea umană, 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 explorează natura prin transformările și tensiunile care o traversează: schimbări climatice, exploatare, dispariția speciilor, mobilitate și adaptare. Natura devine în practica lui Hubert Hasler un spațiu al criticii sociale, prin care artistul pune în discuție idei despre apartenență, migrație și limitele dintre „autohton” și „străin”.

Expoziția reunește lucrări din diferite etape ale practicii artistului, alături de proiectele recente „Eurydike, where is the Snake?” și „I wanna be Tree”, realizate în 2026 în timpul unei rezidențe la Sinemorets, Bulgaria. Între fotografie, video, instalație și sculptură, lucrările urmăresc circulația speciilor, relația dintre stabilitate și deplasare și felul în care natura și activitatea umană se transformă reciproc.

Drawing on the philosophy of ecology and the interdependence between organisms, the environment, and human activity, 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 explores nature through the transformations and tensions that shape it: climate change, exploitation, species extinction, mobility, and adaptation. 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐬̦ 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

We are very happy and proud to announce that 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐬̦, artist at META Spatiu, is presenting one of his most conceptually inventive and speculative works at this year’s edition of 𝐀𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥.

This year’s theme works as an infrastructure for negotiation: a space where certainty can become a question again. The exhibition explores our belief systems, how realities are produced, and what forms of coexistence become possible when we widen our understanding of what “human” means.

“𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲?” — Enrico Fermi’s famous question about the apparent absence of other civilizations in a seemingly boundless universe — also gives its title to Cosmin Haiaș’s work. Taking the Fermi Paradox as a starting point, the installation turns this question back toward humanity itself: why, in such a vast universe, do we find no clear signs of other civilizations, and could technological intelligence contain the conditions of its own disappearance?

The installation brings together analog television sets, AI-generated video, personal family archives, and cosmic noise. The TVs act as witnesses and time machines: their static recalls the cosmic microwave background radiation, a fossil trace of the early universe, while their screens evoke the period between 1950 and 1970, when nuclear power, computers, television, space travel, and the term “Artificial Intelligence” reshaped visions of the human future.

Archival family photographs from communist Eastern Europe are reanimated through AI, connecting private memory to Cold War ideology. The project links scientific imagination, media history, and the Great Filter hypothesis to ask whether progress is a promise of survival or a sign of fragility.

“𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲?” was presented in Timișoara at 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐭̦𝐢𝐮 in 2025 as part of 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐬̦’s solo exhibition.
