A Prayer for Creation – New Month of August

“The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
— Psalm 24:1

Heavenly Father,

As we step into this new month of August, we lift our eyes to the heavens and see the work of Your hands—the moon and stars You have set in place. We are humbled that You, the Creator of all things, have entrusted us to care for this beautiful world.

We praise You, for creation declares Your glory.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” — Psalm 19:1

We thank You, for You are the sustainer of all life.
“You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly.” — Psalm 65:9

Lord, as we enter this month, we pray:

For the land:
May it be fruitful, and may we be faithful stewards. Heal the places where we have broken Your creation. Bring restoration to forests, waters, and every living creature.

For our communities:
Just as You provide for the birds of the air, we ask that You provide for the vulnerable—especially those whose lives depend on the health of Your creation. May we work for justice and peace for all people and all species.

For our hands and hearts:
Give us wisdom to protect, courage to advocate, and humility to learn from the world You have made. Let our actions this month reflect Your love and care for every part of Your creation.

“Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for He comes to judge the earth.” — Psalm 96:13

We commit this month to You—may we walk gently, act justly, and worship You through our care for the earth You have entrusted to us.

The problem: Pollution from improper waste disposal harms our land, water, and health.
