Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, defeated Liberia 3–1 in their opening Group K match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Amahoro Stadium.
Biramahire Abeddy, Leroy Jacques Mickels, and Joy Lance Mickels scored for Rwanda, while Sylvanus Nimely scored Liberia’s only goal.

Amavubi will continue their qualification campaign on 29 September 2026, when they face Cape Verde in Praia.

Rwanda lead Liberia 3–1 at half-time in the opening match of Group K in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, participated in the AI for Good Global Commission meeting convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The meeting focused on advancing the Commission’s first-year action plan, including expanding access to AI, building trust, developing public AI infrastructure, strengthening workforce skills and government capacity, and promoting open AI technologies.

State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Armand Zingiro, joined by officials from various institutions, inspected construction works at the Kirehe Substation,which are now 75% complete.

The substation will increase electricity capacity to support irrigation development projects, including those in Mpanga and Mahama.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, held talks with his Nepalese counterpart, Shisir Khanal, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).

The two ministers witnessed the signing of a General Cooperation Agreement aimed at establishing a framework to strengthen and expand cooperation between Rwanda and Nepal across areas of mutual interest.

The agreement marks another step toward deepening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Minister of Public Service and Labour, Judith Uwizeye, received representatives of the Rwanda Human Resources Management Organization (RHMO) to discuss strengthening collaboration and advancing the human resources management profession in Rwanda.

Discussions focused on building the capacity of HR professionals, promoting training and research, leveraging technology, and improving policies and legal frameworks governing the sector.

Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League financial-rule charges brought against the club.

No sanction has yet been announced, with the club expected to appeal the verdict. City have consistently denied wrongdoing throughout the case, which dates back to charges filed in 2023.

Pacifique Kayigamba Kabanda held talks with Chhay Sinarith, Minister and SecretaryGeneral of Cambodia’s Commission for Countering Online Fraud, in Phnom Penh.

The discussions focused on strengthening Rwanda–Cambodia cooperation in combating online fraud, including information sharing, experience exchange and joint efforts against technology enabled criminal networks.

Construction and rehabilitation works on the 18.5-kilometre Nyagatare–Rwempasha road have been completed.

According to RTDA, road users say the upgraded road has improved travel, access to markets, business activities and overall cleanliness in the area.
