🌊 The whale sharks are arriving! Over the last few weeks, there have been several exciting sightings of whale sharks around Mahé. As their season quickly approaches, we would like to remind everyone how important it is to keep these encounters safe and respectful.

🤲 Following the MCSS Whale Shark Encounter Code ensures minimal disturbance to these incredible animals: always maintain a respectful distance (3-4m), refrain from touching, obstructing or feeding them, and avoid using flash photography. If you are in a group, please limit in-water encounters to a maximum of 8 people at any one time.

🛥️ We also urge all boaters to exercise extra caution over the next few months. Sadly, many whale sharks spotted last year had visible scars from propeller strikes. If you are operating a vessel, please slow down and cut the engine entirely when in close proximity to a whale shark.

🇸🇨 If YOU spot a whale shark, please let us know! Send us a message on Facebook or Instagram with the date, time, and location of your sighting. Your reports are vital for mapping out whale shark hotspots in Seychelles waters and improving our understanding of this flagship species!
