Let’s Make Moon Rabbit Lanterns at Whitehall Historic House
Saturday 26th Sept 1:30-3:30pm
Free, just turn up!

At this free family drop-in workshop celebrating the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, families are invited to practice drawing the moon rabbit, moon cakes and other symbols of the festival, before making a decorative paper lantern to take home!

Local arts educator Mark Pembrey will be present throughout the session. Family participation is encouraged and parents/guardians are asked to stay with their children while they draw and craft.

No booking required. Just turn up.

Draw and Craft Tudor recipes at Whitehall Historic House. We learned about and drew food that the Tudors loved (from spiced pies to roasted swans), then decorated card gingerbread men and drew recipe comics to take home.

Crafting clay dragon eggs and creating dragon comic stories at our Here Be Dragons summer club event at The Vineyard School, Richmond Thanks to Ellie Ellie Wythe for assistance and excellent dragon drawing, and to all the children who took part. I wonder if their eggs have hatched by now… 🐉

Today, Friday 21st August! At this free family drop-in workshop, children will learn about and draw food that the Tudors loved, from game pies to spiced puddings! Then they’ll illustrate their own recipe cards and card gingerbread men to take home (these can be for a Tudor recipe, a recipe you love to cook at home or even a magical recipe!)

Dragons are the fiercest creatures of our imaginations, and often the most fun too! At this special summer workshop, we’ll deliver tutorials on drawing some of the many types of dragons from around the world, craft decorated clay dragon eggs and then invite children to write comic strip stories inspired by the dragons they imagine hatching from their eggs.

Children will only need to bring a snack and water bottle. They will take home the work they’ve created.

Small, everyday acts of kindness that make a big difference might include: cooking a meal, planting a seed, helping with a chore, looking after a pet, caring for someone poorly or simply smiling at someone.

In this fun family drawing workshop, we’ll talk about acts of kindness, practice drawing some of the things we’ve come up with, then create concertina books to illustrate simple kindness journeys. Concertina books are easy to make and help teach an understanding of story sequences, as well as reinforcing a love of books and reading.

Accompanying adults are encouraged to get involved with their children’s drawings and concertina book-making!

This workshop is led by Mark Pembrey of Quickdraw Comics Club, supported by LibraryOn and the London Borough of Sutton Neighbourhood Fund, Cultural Services and Public Health.

This is a free event but booking is essential. Book online via the Sutton council website.
