New semester, more football with Grävlingarna i Lund FF! ⚽️🦡 GILFF starts up again after another summer hiatus and we’ll meet for our first practice this Sunday at 15:30 at Klostergårdens IP!
Our main idea and concept is to play football without any pressure to perform, and to see it mainly as a fun way to get exercise and to socialize! Lot’s of people who have joined us since our founding in 2025 had never played football before joining GILFF and are now loving the game🥰
Football boots are recommended, but ordinary trainers work just fine!👟
PM Jesper Holfelt or Anton Holmstrand if you are interested to join and we’ll add you to the team group chat on WhatsApp!✅
Last summer we participated in the intereuropean archaeological football cup Winckelmann-Cup, where we met lots of other wonderful footballing archaeologists, and our goal is to be able to it once again in the summer of 2027!⚽️
The team was started by and mainly consists of members of KNUT, but you don’t have to be a member of KNUT to participate in GILFF football. Though, we do recommend that you become a KNUT-member to participate in the student organizations other fun events and activities! 🌞
See you on the pitch! 🦡⚽️🦡⚽️🦡⚽️🦡

Hello! I'm Kajsa, one of the event coordinators for KNUT!
This summer, like many summers before I spent my time working for Fotevikens viking village, which is located on the south-western corner of Skåne.
I was mainly responsible for the "mini-archeology" (or more commonly known as the sandbox) this season. What I enjoyed most at work was digging holes every day and meeting thousands of new people from all over the world. It's such a good opportunity to hear new perspectives and funny stories. The sheep were nice company too. During less busy moments I also spent my time doing small crafts like sewing, leatherwork and whittling.
In addition to being a viking all summer I also spent my time being in Kulturen Lund's drama group and playing in their summer theater ”I Gränslandet”. The theme for this year's show was the battle of Lund which took place in 1676. It was a wonderful time and my first time doing theater. Instead of focusing on the spectacle of war the show instead focused on the little human, and how there are people willing to help each other, even if times are tough.
I also got to spend a lot of times behind the scenes in the beautiful Bosebo Church inside Kulturen Lund. Such a wonderful piece of art. I hope to be in the drama group many more times in the future!

Hello I’m Carl, quartermaster for KNUT. This summer I have been at another excavation in Finland with Jan Fast but this time in the finnish archipelago. To get there I first took the train to Stockholm and after that the night ship to Åbo, then me and the rest of the Swedish archeologists had to take a two hour bus to the end of the island Korpo where we got picked up by Jan and the others by boat to the small island of Brunskär.
After one and a half days of travel we could finally put down our things in our accommodations we were staying at. It was at our hosts backyard and we ate both breakfast and dinner together but lunch was at the excavation.
We excavated an 18th century settlement that our hosts ancestors had lived at which made it one of more personal excavations I have been to. We also excavated with some of the people that lived there which made it an fun and memorable excavation. We found a wide variety of finds such as nails, glass and a lot of animal bones.
The excavation was in total five days and when we were not excavating we got a tour of the island, listened to stories about the islands history and we also got a tour of Korpostörm and its church. And on the last night we were there we ate wonderful smoked flounder and had some of our hosts play music for us.
It was one of the best trips I have been on and certainly the best excavation I have been to. Big thanks to Jan and our hosts for this opportunity and I hope to go back again someday.

Hello! I'm Lukas, event coordinator for KNUT!
This week I've been to Gotland and Medeltidsveckan! I like to reenact viking age scandinavia and as such the fit is a somewhat historically correct outfit of a middle class norse man from late viking age (with modern shoes as I did quite a lot of walking :p).
The trip started with me and my cousin driving for 4h to Oskarshamn then taking the ferry to Gotland for another 3h to finally arrive tired at the camping! We arrived late in the night and set up at the "modern camping" as I don't have a historically accurate tent (yet!).
We were both volunteers at medeltidsveckan (which means we got to go there for free which I highly recommend doing) and as such the work started the next day.
I had the volonteer role of "ruin host" which meant I checked the tickets of people who came to the events. Most of these are in the many old church ruins! Very atmospheric!
However it's not all work! I also met a few KNUT:ers which is always a pleasure!
We also explored the large market, watched parades, saw some shows and swimmed!
All in all it was a warm and wonderful week of nice and nerdy people, fun events and good times!
If you ever get the chance to be a volunteer at medeltidsveckan I highly recommend it!

Greetings from Jesper and Tilda, event coordinator and treasurer of KNUT!
This summer we have had a great time excavating the middle neolithic Pitted Ware site Ge 16.9, just outside of Geta on the Finnish islands of Åland. Together with fellow KNUTers Estelle, Philip, and Albin, we spent a week partaking in this project of Jan Fast, while also having a nice vacation. In addition to this, we were fortunate to meet and work together with members of our counterpart Fjölnir from Uppsala!
Our travels began with an 8 hour car ride from Lund before the ferry ride to the islands and our final destination Ödkarby, where we would be staying for the week. The day after we arrived we had an introductory meeting at the Museum of Åland, where we got to familiarize ourselves with the finds of Geta from previous years. Lots and lots of ceramics and stone, and many amazing clay figurines as well!
Aiming to conclude six summers worth of excavations, we arrived Monday morning at the site for the first time. What is now located in the forested mountains of northwestern Åland, was then a place by the beach on a much smaller island. As this dig was the final one at the site we were quite unsure of what finds still remained in the sand, but Geta did not disappoint! The main excavation pit brought many beautifully decorated Pitted Ware sherds, marine bones, flakes and cores of quartz keratophyre, as well as two figurine fragments. We also had the opportunity to open up a smaller test pit in hopes of identifying the boundaries of the site. From this pit came not only a figurine piece, but a likely bone arrowhead and great amounts of ceramics and stone flakes as well. It was quite the experience as many of these finds emerged just before we filled in the pits on the final day!
Pretty much every afternoon after excavating we spent our time swimming and hanging on the docks by our accommodation, often joined by the neighbour’s 19 year old cat, Lisa. We also took some time to visit some churches and the medieval castle of Kastelholm!
We had a great time, and a big thank you to Jan Fast and team for having us!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since this beautiful evening! We have since seen many posts from you ball guests and they all warm our hearts 💚
We would love to thank every single one of you for attending KNUT’s 40 years anniversary ball and for all the kind words we’ve received both throughout the evening and afterwards. Never in our wildest imaginations did we expect the night to be such a wonderful experience, and we have all of you guests to thank for making the night incredible! 🥂
Most of the ball committee has been a bit busy with master theses but we have now handed in the first drafts 🥳 so we took some time off for the impossible task of picking the top 88 pics from the incredible photographers Samuel and Samuel and this is the result! 🎞️
We also want to thank the talented band Törner Cryda honouring us with your performance and the DJ Nikolaj who for keeping the dance floor crowded the entire evening. Another thanks to Sixten for the passionate leading of songs and to David (aka Thor). 💃
Now have a wonderful weekend and become a KNUT member to never miss out on these unforgettable events! 💚
