We look back to an era of refined aesthetics and the gradual shift toward a more stripped-down, rational design language, where craftsmanship meets industrial production. Bukowskis presents Part II of a private collection of decorative arts, focusing on the designers and design movements that shaped the transition from Swedish Grace to Functionalism and, ultimately, to Modernism.

The collection brings together elegant objects with the classical proportions and decorative flourishes characteristic of the 1920s alongside the cleaner, more functional forms that emerged with the breakthrough of Functionalism in the 1930s.

Discover a collection of prints by Swedish visual artist and sculptor C Göran Karlsson, born in Uppsala in 1944.

At the beginning of his career, Karlsson created detailed, realistic paintings, often depicting landscapes. During the 1970s, however, his style evolved in a more abstract direction. Clean, geometric forms became the focal point, frequently inspired by the structural details of electrical substations. In recent years, Karlsson's abstract paintings have taken on a futuristic character, dominated by bold geometric lines. Find your favorite and place a bid today.

Discover the themed auction From Gallerist Hans Leijonhufvud’s Collection, including a selection of works from the legendary Galleri Händer on Hornsgatspuckeln in Stockholm. During the 1970s and 1980s, the gallery was a gathering place for Swedish artists Lars Hillersberg, Peter Dahl, Kristina Elander, Gittan Jönsson, Eva Zettervall and many others. The gallery owner was Hans Stenkil Leijonhufvud, known for his strong-willed nature and his original choice of artists.

Marianne Lindberg De Geer has described how Leijonhufvud had his office on the upper floor of the gallery. In two worn leather armchairs, deep and engaged conversations took place concerning the state of art, the latest reviews, and ongoing debates between artists and critics, friends and foes. It was not uncommon for Peter Dahl to be sitting in one of the armchairs. “The conversations went on for hours, accompanied by the finest whisky and a good cigar. From his cluttered desk, the gallery owner had a full view of the spiral staircase and of what was happening in the exhibition space below.”
