Former President Koroma Joins Friday Prayers at Makeni Central Mosque After More Than Two Years Away

After more than two years away from Sierra Leone, former President Ernest Bai Koroma today returned to Makeni and joined Muslim worshippers for Friday prayers at the Central Mosque.

The atmosphere was warm and joyful. As the prayers ended, worshippers gathered around him, smiling, shaking hands, and offering warm embraces. Young and old were simply happy to see him back in Makeni.

The Imam spoke about forgiveness, faith and responsible leadership, encouraging Koroma to forgive those who may have offended him and to continue praying for Sierra Leone.

Koroma thanked everyone who had kept him in their prayers while he was in Nigeria. With an open heart, he called on Sierra Leoneans to embrace peace and reconciliation, reminding everyone that peace begins in our homes, communities and places of worship.

For many worshippers, it was a beautiful moment of reunion: a former president back among his people, welcomed with prayers, smiles and genuine happiness.

A joyful homecoming, a message of peace, and a moment of faith that brought people together.
