🌟 Exciting Updates from Our End Child Marriage Project! 🌟

To ensure that adolescent girls safely thrive in their communities, Our funded ECM project engaged 240 girls across 8 communities in Koinadugu District through sessions focusing on child marriage and teenage pregnancy. 💪✨

We also engaged 160 mothers in our Mothers Club to promote positive parenting and create safe environments for their daughters. 🏡❤️

Additionally, 200 men and boys participated in our Men and Boys Club, learning how to be allies in preventing child marriage and teenage pregnancy. Together, they established community bylaws for a safer future for all girls. 🤝

As part of the ongoing implementation of the Spotlight Initiative to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Falaba District, the Child and Adolescent Health and Life Skills (CAHLS) Leads in Mongo Bendugu Chiefdom conducted a community outreach and GBV awareness-raising activity in Seria Community, approximately 3 miles from Mongo Bendugu Town.

The outreach was strategically conducted during the community’s market day, providing an opportunity to engage a wider cross-section of community members on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), its prevention, available support services, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of collective action in preventing violence against women and girls.

The activity forms part of the CAHLS Leads’ continued efforts to take GBV awareness beyond schools and into communities, particularly hard-to-reach areas, while promoting positive attitudes, community ownership, and a safer environment for women, girls, boys, and other community members.

Restless Development, through the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab - Power of the Collective, is currently conducting capacity-building training for 640 youth-led community-based organizations (CBOs) from all regions of Sierra Leone.

The training sessions focus on enhancing skills in leadership, accountability, research, advocacy, and youth hackathons. We're inspired by these young people's passion and dedication to prepare themselves for community empowerment.

These young people are the future of sustainable development and vibrant communities.

We're here in Bo for the Debrief and Certification Ceremony, and what a moment to celebrate — 40 mentors are being recognized today for the work they've put into championing the FIIH Project across Freetown and Moyamba.

But this gathering is more than handing out certificates. It's a space for us to come together, reflect on what's worked, be honest about the challenges we've faced along the way, and start shaping ideas for future implementation.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of Jersey Overseas Aid whose funding made this work happen, and our partners — The Energy Nexus Network , Mikashboks, and Sierra Leone Commercial Bank — who have stood beside us every step of the way. We're also deeply grateful to the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs-SL for their continued partnership and support. Together, we truly are making a difference.

Yesterday, 19th August, Restless Development Sierra Leone joined four other NGOs at an Open Information Session hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), in partnership with SLANGO.

Our Head of Programmes and Partnerships, Alfred T. M. Navo, shared our journey, youth-led approach, programme impact, and current contribution to Sierra Leone’s development priorities. Fatim Joy Kunduno, a former Power Up mentor, brought this impact to life by sharing how volunteering strengthened her confidence, leadership, and ability to support adolescent girls in her community.

We value this important platform for transparency, accountability and collaboration—and remain committed to ensuring young people are recognised as leaders and partners in national development.
