Reports reaching us from Juba indicate that Nilepet’s bank accounts have reportedly been blocked following a court dispute over millions of dollars allegedly borrowed by the company’s Managing Director, Emmanuel Athiei, from a businessman from Warrap State whose identity has not been disclosed.

According to the reports, Athiei allegedly secured the funds after being tipped off by a supporter at J1 about his possible dismissal. The reports further allege that the money was never deposited into Nilepet’s bank accounts, raising questions about the purpose of the transaction and prompting concerns over possible corruption or financial impropriety.

The Managing Director of Nile Petroleum Corporation Hon. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual has informed Melut Community Chairperson Hon. Stephen Dhueu Dau that he is being threatened by Hon. James Deng Wal not to replace the incumbent DPOC Vice President Atak Santino Majak with a son of Melut County.

All the sons of Melut County who were holding senior managerial positions in DPOC were recently replaced with the people from Warrap and Northern Bhar El Ghazal States.

Mr. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual told Melut Community Chairperson that he had wanted to appoint a son of Melut County as a Vice President of Dar Petroleum Operating Company Limited. However, there is pressure from the Executive Director in the Office of the President not to do so.

Four Students from Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Area who were shot by security organs on the orders of NilePet Managing Director Emmanuel Athiei are currently in critical conditions at Juba Teaching Hospital.

In the early morning hours of 28th July, 2026, hundreds of students from Ruweng Administrative Area and Unity State stormed the headquarters of GPOC over the company failure to clear their tuition fees.

Based on the report , NilePet MD Emmanuel Athiei and the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Petroleum were notified by the GPOC Management on how to handle the situation.

However, NilePet Managing Director Emmanuel Athiei directed the GPOC Management to order the security forces to use live bullets as the only alternative of dispersing the students from the premises.

As a result, four students were injured and are currently hospitalized at Juba Teaching Hospital

Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) was reportedly locked down this morning after students sponsored by the company stormed the premises over alleged unpaid tuition fees.

Sources within GPOC claim that the Community Development (CD) funds have been drained by the trio of Petroleum Undersecretary Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar, Nilepet Managing Director Emmanuel Athiei Ayual, and First Deputy Speaker of the Council of States Mary Ayen Mijok Kiir.

The situation at the company is reportedly tense, as the students are said to be determined to occupy the entire building.

Breaking News: Tension High in Juba as Students from Oil Producing Areas Shut Down GPOC Headquarters over Company Failure to Pay their Tuition Fees

This morning, students from Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Area have closed down the head office of GPOC over unpaid tuition fees. The frustrated students who have been blocked from sitting for exams at the University of Juba and other universities across South Sudan stormed GPOC Headquarters in juba demanding payment of their tuition fees.

When informed about the tensions at GPOC, NilePet Managing Director Emmanuel Athiei proposed the shooting of unarmed students by the security forces if they don't leave the premises. Athiei said that the oil is for all the South Sudanese and no community or tribe should solely claim the ownership or privileges over it.

He added that if social media activists are serious about their campaign, they should also reveal the main culprits behind Nilepet daily staggering millions of dollars, because Athiei is just a messenger being used by the Executive Director in the Office of the president Hon. James Deng Wal and the Private Secretary Hon. Akol Santo Arech. Otherwise, this ongoing campaign is imbalanced, and it must start from the top, not from the bottom.
