Fun times in the palms at the S.R.Y BMX TRACK jam today.

All the good folks got together to session this l’il beaut of a track. It was a bit damp, at times, but far from that being the disaster it could have been, it just made for racing that was as hot as the sun which broke through and then stayed out. Elbows, elbows, elbows! Love it.

As the track dried, everyone threw down 2 times against the clock, and somehow, mine stuck and so I literally brought home gold…which was floating around in my winners wine.

I’ve been a huge fan of this track, and these people, for ages now and to see this place getting traction (more than those wet laps!) is good for the soul.

Oh, and with a 13km stretch of the new elevated road cutting out the worst of Rama II road, getting there from Bangkok was way quicker than it has been. Man, when that’s finished…

If you think that BMX is an important cultural element, then what happened to The Boneyard whilst I was away can only be described as cultural vandalism.

If you don’t, then it’s just builders dumping a load of old sh*te onto my spot.

Either way, I rectified the situation. In doing so I found two things that mean from now on it’s going to be called either Turtle Bay, or the Rose Bowl. Haven’t decided yet.

The plan is to oppo 180 out of it, but don’t hold your breath.

Came back from Nong Bon via Sport For Life where I spotted a teeny jump. Made it my mission to get some height of it.

Then flatted!

I saw that there was a nice 2nd booter at Nong Bon, so went to have a gander. Bumped into the lad that built it too and shared some laps.

He, and it, ride super well.

Never been that keen on riding 20” in lace-ups, but getting slip-ons with the BMX sole ain’t easy these days.

Happy with these ‘BMX proof’ numbers though, especially as I got ‘em cheap because who’d shred in white?

My S*M Bikes is back from its spa break at the HIO BMX Shop retreat.

Potae Soi Wichian treated her to new Hoder grips and put on my spare set of tagged graphics. This time I got them wrapped so my kooky fails don’t scratch them off again.

Next was a set of ÉCLAT Juggernaut pedals from Schögn Lee of BMX Direct Thailand, which are THE burliest things I have ever seen. Pins on one side and smooth on the other, for sweet, sweet grinds.

After that a new S*M Goring bash guard as my other one was all out of rotations and each grind was costing me a chain!

A fork respray with that re-popped Pitchfork sticker and bit of frame rust scraped away, and we’re ready for our second year together.
