🐾 Pixie’s big lunch adventure 🇹🇭❤️

Today we decided to take little Pixie along for lunch at a local Thai restaurant. Since this little girl is usually FULL of energy, we thought she would absolutely love the walk there.

Well… Pixie had other plans. 😂

Our little princess quickly decided that walking was highly overrated and being carried was a much better way to travel. So we ended up carrying her for most of the way there… and most of the way back. 👑🐶

She still had a great time exploring somewhere new, meeting people and joining us for lunch. And since Pixie will soon be starting a whole new life with her family in Germany 🇩🇪❤️, we’ll consider this some important preparation for all the adventures ahead.

We just hope her new family can convince her that in Germany, princesses occasionally have to walk themselves. 😂🐾

Safe to say, Pixie enjoyed her little excursion very much… even if her humans got most of the exercise. ❤️

Meet Buck 🐶❤️

Buck is a street dog who suddenly found himself in a place he didn’t know.

Because he had not been neutered, some locals were worried that he might get into fights with other males or impregnate female dogs in his area. Instead of having him neutered, they moved him somewhere else, far away from the streets he knew.

Luckily for Buck, our friend Bex found him. ❤️ She rescued him from the unfamiliar area, contacted us and made sure he could come to our shelter for help. She’s also the voice you hear telling Buck’s story in this video.

We were able to organize his castration for the very next day. 🙏

Buck’s story is also a good example of why spaying and neutering has been such an important part of our work for more than 20 years.

Every weekday, our veterinary team spays and neuters between 5 and 15 local dogs and cats. That means around 100–300 operations every month. Our experienced veterinarian Dr. Sith has performed thousands of these operations over the years.

By spaying and neutering street animals before more puppies and kittens are born, we can humanely help control Koh Samui’s street animal population and prevent a lot of suffering before it starts. 🐕🐈

As a non-profit foundation, we can only continue this work with the help of others. Donations from people around the world help us pay for our veterinary staff, medical equipment, medicine and the facilities needed to treat animals like Buck.

🐾 HELP KRABI SAVE HIS LEG ❤️‍🩹

Krabi’s story started on a rainy road near Krabi, Thailand.

A former volunteer and good friend of our shelter was traveling with her partner from Krabi toward Bangkok when they spotted a tiny puppy injured in the middle of the road.

They immediately stopped.

Krabi had apparently been hit by a car and could barely move. They picked him up and started searching for help. The first clinic could only give him pain medication and wasn’t able to take X-rays. Two more clinics were already closed, so they continued to Surat Thani, where they finally found a clinic that could properly examine him.

The X-rays showed just how serious his injuries were: Krabi has a broken left femur and a dislocated left hip.

Our volunteers Lea and Jana then traveled to the mainland to pick him up and bring him safely to Dog and Cat Rescue Samui.

We named him Krabi, after the place where his second chance began. ❤️

He is only around four months old and weighs just 8 kg.

Krabi now needs specialized surgery that we cannot perform at our shelter. His operation is scheduled for this Thursday, September 17, and will cost ฿54,000.

We have just two days to try to raise the money.

So many people have already come together to give this little boy a chance. From the people who stopped for him on that rainy road, to the clinics that helped him, to Lea and Jana bringing him safely to us.

Now we want to finish what they started.
