💡 What drives innovation in the FinTech industry beyond apps, digital payments, and blockchain platforms?
New research by Dr. Milad Armani Dehghani, Associate Professor in Digital Technology and FinTech at AIT School of Management, reveals that patents are emerging as a critical driver of innovation, competitiveness, and long-term value creation in the global financial sector.
Published in leading international journals, the studies examine how banks, credit card companies, and FinTech firms use intellectual property strategically and introduce a machine learning-based framework to assess patent quality across nearly 97,000 FinTech patents worldwide.
The findings provide valuable insights for businesses, investors, policymakers, and educators navigating the future of digital finance, AI-driven financial services, and innovation ecosystems.

🐟How can Thailand meet the growing demand for farmed fish while protecting the environment?
New PhD research by Patchareeporn Intamano from AIT’s Environmental Engineering and Management program uses a Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) to evaluate the environmental, economic, and social impacts of fish farming systems across Thailand.
The study finds that feed production is the largest contributor to environmental impacts, while Nile tilapia grown in polyculture systems showed the lowest environmental footprint among the systems assessed.
The research also explores innovative solutions such as alternative feeds and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) to support a more sustainable aquaculture future under Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model.
Conducted under the supervision of Dr. Anish Ghimire, the study provides valuable insights for building a more sustainable and resilient aquaculture sector.
