Quantech is proud to have delivered a Cyber Security Awareness Training session for Konnekto in Dili, Timor-Leste.

Over two hours, we worked with their team on the threats that are most likely to affect a real business operating in our environment today. Not abstract concepts — practical, hands-on knowledge grounded in real attack techniques and real outcomes.

We walked the team through how attackers impersonate trusted senders to trick staff into making fraudulent payments. We demonstrated how fake websites are built to look identical to legitimate ones and how the only reliable way to tell the difference is knowing exactly where to look. We ran live exercises where participants had to identify suspicious emails and lookalike domains on screen before the answers were revealed. And we presented real-world scam scenarios, including cases where businesses lost tens of thousands of dollars because a single staff member acted on a convincing but fraudulent request — through no fault of their own, simply because no one had ever shown them what an attack looks like.

The discussion in the room was exactly what we hope for from these sessions. Staff who came in unsure left with clear, actionable habits they can apply immediately.

Why every organisation should be doing this — and doing it regularly.

Cybercrime is no longer a distant risk that only affects large enterprises in wealthy countries. It is active, global, and automated. Attackers run campaigns that scan for the easiest targets, and the easiest targets are consistently organisations whose staff have never received security awareness training.
